Re: Freezing with sound skipping on new rig

To be honest I have no idea why turning down the EAX helped either, I read many, many ...many...many threads on the creative forums about other people having the same issue as I was, and there were many, err many possible solutions offered to me, but the only one that made a difference for me was the EAX control.

    As far as SVM,

    EAX

    24 bit crystalizer

Now you may not have the same console, as you have a different card than I do. So you may not have the same options.

Ok tried bringing those settings down.

It crashed again on me while swapping maps. This error seems buried deep in hardware to me. Have disabled EAX and set sound quality to medium and just played two straight rounds no problem.

This is so annoying its untrue. Any further suggestions?

Is your CPU overclocked? i know someone who got results by restoring default on processor speed.

It jsut bombed on me in BF2 vanilla. Christ I wish Creative would issue a driver update. I think i may get rid of my Audigy 4.

Ok i have reseated the sound card in a different PCI slot. This came up with an IRQ conflict with one of my 7800GTS. Tried this out and it totally borked out in BF2.

So i moved it back to the original PCI slot. IRQ value is now different to my 7800GT's, but only 1 position away IE GFX cards are on 9 and 10, my Audigy 4 is on 7. I removed the card from device manager and re-installed drivers.

I wil run a half life 2 demo to see if it freezes on me again. I am talking to the system builders tomorrow about a refund or an onsite fix. I dont want to go changing IRQ values in my bios as I am not comfortable with it.

            Any other ideas,......anyone?
