I often take the time to pull out my knife when I see someones backside. The problem with BF2 is that even when you are lying down in a building with concrete floors and some enemy is running around you with his big military boots, you simply don't hear a thing.. This bugged me to no end in BF1942 and it hasn't gotten much better in BF2.

You can probably hear them if it's totally silent around you (not bloody likely in this game) but most of the time it's like total stealth mode. Pair that with your lousy view angle and you got a recepy for taking a knife in the back.

That story about pushing people off the edge got me laughing though. :laugh: I can just see the poor guy fumbling for his parachute key in total panic.

I've often wondered about this, cos nobody ever seems to hear me when I sneak up on them to knife them, but I quite often hear people coming for me in plenty of time to turn and plug them while they stand there holding the knife. Maybe I have good headphones or something!

Odds are you do. I haveheadphones that are so "noise cannceling", I get a weird "Back to reality" feel after playing a game.

If you want to be good, you do needgood headphones. Skill is great, but stealth and detection is better.

ha ha ha i do that all the time. I let the person get the neutral flag and as its going up the pole I kill them. I do this because A) it lets them think they are going to get the flag cap, and B) I can get more points this way because I can get teh neutral point and cap points.

I always enjoy turning a corner in the tank to see an enemy in the middle of the street with a "deer in the headlights" reaction. They stand still, I sit still. They move a bit to the left. My turret moves a bit to the left. They run. I run them over..

Ha, I did something like that on Sharqi as Mec yesterday. No one was flying our MI-28 so I C4ed it and hid in the mountains behind. Then I "accidentally" said "Hey guys, we need to get our MI-28 in the air before they steal it from us" on All Talk instead of Team Talk. Sure enough 10 seconds later their cobra flys up and the pilot and gunner bail and steal the MI-28.

They fly halfway back to the city and BOOM

i hate people that do that...i could understand if i had a gun out, but when it's blatantly clear i have a knife out and people still shoot....ooo it makes me upset. Just rang a bell cause today I did that, the guy turned around, fired 2 magazines from his gun at me (thank god he was a ****ty shot), and THEN pulled out his pistol to kill me. It took him 30 seconds to kill me meanwhile I was right in front of him, doing the standard evasion tactics aka bunnyhopping (what else am i supposed to do, stand there and let him shoot me?)

Actually I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 565 Ovation headphones. Good enough? My sound card is an Audigy 2 with the latest drivers. I have sound quality on high with EAX enabled. I can hear people moving around me if it's totally quiet, not otherwise. This is a sound balance issue within the game. I've been experimenting lately with the level of my own gun and movement compared to that of the surroundings.

I also like to pretend I didn't see the guy when I'm in a tank. I just ignore him for a while, then when hes about to run or move and he gets the jist that I know he's there I blow him up.

I love it when somebody is trying to swim from one point to another, and you are on the shore. You just shoot around them for a bit and then dive in for the kill.

Or I remeber one time, there was a tank on a runway and i was Spec Ops, the tank spotted me, so i got into a Jeep and started circling the tank, his turret couldnt keep up with me so all his shots were going behind me, i finally made him get out, so i ran him over :P

I payed about 50.00 € for my Sennheiser PC150 and I can even hear where they are coming from. Ok, I spent a bit more for the x-fi
Good sound is imo very important in any game to be able to locate the bad guy before he finds you.

I play quite often on the same team as my 17 year old son. When he is on the other team and kills me, he squat humps my dead body, throws 3 to 4 C4 packs on it... runs away and blows up my corpse...

Before my Plantronics DSP500 USB headset broke (no bass at all anymore) I could hear people behind me. I enabled the "bass boost" feature and turned it up a bit. That also made it so I could hear the rumble of choppers coming long before I could even see them.

I favorite thing to do to mess with people is to play as support and get up somewhere high, and then just lob grenades at them. I did that for a whole game on Oman once on top of that hotel with the diving board. Nobody ever got me.

Another fun thing to do is try to snipe people with your pistol and watch as they start hopping all over as soon as the first shot lands. It's great fun.
