    EA screwed up commander scoring

The way a commander earns his points is messed up and encourages the commander to drag out a battle without concentrating on wining. A commander should be rewarded more for a swift victory than a close call. The basic commander badge requires 40 com points which is hard to do on 32 man servers if your a good commander. Its sad that the commander system (ribbons/medals) reward poor commanders who cannot cope and fail to end the battle fast.

The way i see it, your In-game commander points should be related to the amount of tickets you have left when your enemy is defeated and than that should be added to your team's avg score.

As it is now, a commander who can end a game in 5 min at a ratio of say 200-0 is not rewarded as well as a commander sho sux and finishes at a ratio of 10-0

    what do you guys think?

I've thought of this quite a bit as I enjoy the commander position, and I agree. The only plausible explanation for this that comes to mind is it might weed out anyone just looking for some quick points and attract only those who are serious about commanding the team.

..But this still doesn't work. We're plagued by people that are only in to get ribbons and awards, people that want a pretty little star over their name, etc. Stat whores or not, the commander needs to be rewarded for actual work. It's a neat idea that the commander only does as good as his team, which encourages him to supply squads and all, but in the end it just leads to dragging out rounds and milking the pts.

Ticket idea is interesting. Arty giving the commander points would be nice to have back, and maybe points for supply crates effectively being used by your team. Someone will probably mention UAVs being on for a set amount of time to give pts or spotting enemy troops but those would get out of hand and be irritating.

*I still say the commander should get points for issuing a specific order (capturing/defending a certain flag, repairing, etc.) and having it followed by a squad.

im glad you agree, i was actually about to go to sleep but i thought of another idea to improve the game.

right now there is serious issues with squads not being formed andpeople not following orders, so i was thinking that individuals who follow orders should get a bonus, so that if a commander is good and issues good orders and a squad is good and follows them they both recive more points.

for example, if im a commander chooses kit specific orders, and orders the spec ops to destroy the artilery UAV and radar they get 3 points per target instead of one, and the commander earns 1 point per successful order followed. This would also work for flags etc.

Such a design would encourage people to join squads and work together to gain more points. ALso squads would actually attack where the commander tells them and not attack flags at random.

right now most battles are led 50/50 by commander/random people, they attaxk where they like and what they like and only partly if ever listen to the commander

Actually that was exactly what I meant. I started a thread about it once, it's rotting somewhere. I think it's genius. It would be fairly easy to code-- It could sense an 'Attack here' and then the squad would get 8 pts instead of 4 for neutralizing and capturing the flag under the commander's orders instead of just the squad leader's. This would make things a little more organized and less random running around.

Capturing and blowing up/fixing assets seem to be the only ones that would work, no?

i agree with you cause i hate it when i am commanding and the my teammates are running to uncap flags to die out there, that just doesnt work..

i just hope that the EA fokes read this forum, which is unfortunetely unlikely
            =[

This would make the game so much better, real war teamwork and not headless chicken combat

do you not get points for kills with Artillary anymore I killed like 8 on a 64 player map and got like 2 points, def not the 8 i should have got.

I was a bit disapointed with the points i was getting and im one of those who leaves the main spawm points free

You never got points for arty kills in the first place.

and for those saying you get more points for drawn out battles, that's not necessarily true. the sooner you wrap this battle up, the sooner you can start the next one...

Re: EA screwed up commander scoring

The other day I had a Commander that really ****ed me off. He was flying around in a helo, I was in a tank, and he started firing missiles at me. I didn't know it was the Commander at the time but I sent a message that if he tk'd me then I would punish him for it. He said, "Oh really" and proceeded to take me out. Needless to say, I didn't get a punish yes or no message and I checked and found that he was the Commander and didn't receive any penalty for it. (That's just not right.)

So the next round, he jumps in to be the Commander again. I'm trying to figure out how to call for a mutiny vote and he tks me while I'm doing that. I posted a message asking how to call for a vote. He replys, Alt+F4. So without even thinking about it, I do it and it shuts down my game. I'm sitting there looking at the Windows desktop shaking my head and all I can think is, that bastard.

There are two things that I took away from this. 1) I believe that it's a good thing that the Commander doesn't get punished for tks with arty. But, I don't think that it should prevent them from being punished if they tk any other way. 2) I definitely need to figure out how to call for a mutiny vote. Any help with that?

I'm done ranting now, thanks for listening.

Crying... this is SO funny. One of the best stories on the board. Easily.

I feel for you. The idea of commander not being punished for tks is new and I'll lay down some coin that this will be the next exploit: "not punishable for tks? cool...let me slaughter my own people...they cant do **** to me...how fun...yay."

I give you credit pugs...you handled it like a man with a thoroughly articulate and well tempered post, and not like the little girl that followed your post.

see ya out on the battlefield.

Hit Caps Lock..there is a mutiny button, I have NEVER used it and anytime some idiot wants to mutiny, or kick, or vote for another map it pops up right in my way so I hit Page Down as quick as I can.
