Well what about the people with good PCs and a widescreen... Their Field of View is bigger and they can see people who would be off screen on normal people's monitors.

A better video card just makes the game run smoother, it doesn't give the person the ability to see more than anyone else...

Sure it does. The crispier the detail, the easier it is to see an enemy hiding in the grass, or on roof tops, etc.

It also allows a better view distance. people with crapier cards can't have their view distance up 100% . . . I don't hear any one scfreaming "That's unfair!"

True, the FOV will have changed, for a 'slight' advantage, however if you want the same advantage, buy a widescreen monitor. Hell I had to buy an extra gig of RAM just to run the game at a decent speed and to turn everything to max, including view distance.

Therefore, widescreen monitors do not give any more 'unfair' advantage than a player playing with his view distance set to 90% rather than 100%.

Thats down to resolution not widescreen, were my monitor a straight square you would not mind? Even windowed on a 30" monitor id be running well above 1280x1024 and still see more than a standard monitor.

Even with the viewscale at 100%, you can not see the full 100% away due to the fog effect. The viewscale is mainly there to add depth to the map.

his point is that a higher powered vid card will allow you to see 100%... while a lower card won't allow the same amount of distance...

our point still is... people will always have better hardware...

1920x1200 reso sounds good for the BF2 and other games. If it will come, then I'm gonna migrate to wide-screen soon (24"-26").

Exactly.
I Signed a long time ago. Though I don't have a WS, I have a 21" CRT, I still support it. It is just like saying it is unfair that people that have 2GBs of RAM have the advantage of getting to a helo/plane faster because they load/verify the game quicker.

This feature is becoming common place in other games. And yes, people that have better machines already have an advantage. I dropped $1200 to get a bigger advantage over what I used to have. I am not hearing anyone say gimp everyone with over a gig of ram or 256megs on their video card.
