Moveable aircraft carriers were myg0t's life-long dream come true. I'm glad they took them out, they were not much more than a way for a smacktard to cripple their whole team.

And that's time wasted hunting it down instead of tackling enemy jets or defending your own carrier. You people lack any clue about game design. The only reason they're not movable now is because they're too poly heavy(i.e. create too much lag when moving because of the tremendous poly wastage by the devs) and because they decided to put the assets on the carriers, which was just plain stupid. As for idiots beaching them, its very easy to prevent on the dev side of things, and even easier if they had proper torque in reverse to pull themselves out properly.

You can spout all the uninformed bullshit you want but the fact remains that moveable carriers added far more to gameplay than static ones ever did, and those maps were also some of the most popular maps of their game for that reason.

Squirrel, I'm not contesting what you said, but seriously where TF you gonna move it to? With the size of the maps the carriers are on, the carrier consumes atleast 1/4 of the water. It would seem pointless, and I never played BF1942, so are we talking like a single player actually up in the control tower driving the thing or does the CMDR do it in the CMDR screen?

Who thinks the sub idea could work in theory? I do. But it would take too much team work and effort on Dice part... lazy fools..

BF2 maps are larger than BF1942 maps and in BF1942 a carrier took up less than half of a grid square of which there were 16. Plenty of room to maneuver in. You also have to remember in BF2 none of the standard maps allow you you use 100% of the map space(well except Wake). In BF1942 sea maps you could, and you'd have to for it to work in BF2 as well. Also alot of the mod community mappers have shown that you can make maps even larger than the standard bf2 maps which gives even more space.

In BF1942 it was normally one person driving it from the tower, and 4 or more manning the on board defenses. However with BF2 we have the python files that we can edit to do pretty much anything. We could easily make it Commander driven only if we wanted. However with that said it would benefit more from the ability to move if any player could drive it instead of just the commander. Especially considering a commander should be commanding, not driving things around.

Does noone remember the uber lag fest that chronicly came up while walking on the deck of a moving ship?

Yeah, the feature was cool (I loved circling Wake Island with the destoryer, laying waste), but the colision detection hasn't caught up to other aspects of the game. That same lag now would be totally unacceptable. Back in the BF42 days, you just put up with it.

I never experienced anything more than a slight slipping feeling while the ship was going flat out as fast as it could go. Maybe I was just lucky.

BF1942 was awesome, they actually fixed 95% of the crap wrong with it in like 3-4 patches, which you can't say for BFV or BF2/SF. You should definetly buy it, especially since it's like 10-15 bucks by now.

I want armoured boats of some kind. RIBs just arent good enough. As soon as a guy in a helo or an AT kit sees one it just shouts "Free kill, shoot me". Armoured landing craft would make maps like wake island much more interesting as you couldnt just sit in a tank on one of the beachheads and shoot every single weak assed RIb that came your way. That hovercraft looks cool, maybe a smaller 5 man version with AA, TOW and a machine gun would be awesome.

I'm going to ignore all of your extraneous nonsense and jump straight to proving you wrong.

Moveable carriers will add nothing to gameplay in BF2. As stated TWICE now, it's far too easy to accurately spot in this game and all it'd take is a single jet to spot the carrier to nullify any "moveability" advantage.

I understand that you loved them in BF1942, but BF2 is a different game (UAV, faster jets, easier pinpoint spotting) and it's just not noteworthy enough to include.
