Using XBOX Controller - How?

Ok i try to set up my XBOX Controller on my PC (Yes i have the cable, yes it's installed) I can set up all the controls but I can't change one of the things. It doesnt show up. So when i go to play the game im still using the mouse to scroll and look around. Everything else is by the Controller. Anyone else using one? I'd like to know abit more about it. Thanks,

unbind all the keys and then try configruing it again

There is a guide out there that shows how you hook iether of them up...i'm thinking of doing that tooo.....

Hey thanks for the soon replies, haha XBOX 360, i wish. They're not even out here in Australia yet lol. Anyway, the thing is i can't find the setting to look around. Of course all of you should know you use the mouse to look around, i can't change that setting because i can't find it. But everything else i could change. Thanks again,

Use JoyToKey and map the left thumbstick to the mouse axes.

I don't even think that through creative editing of the controls.con file has anybody been able to mouselook with their joystick.

JoyToKey WILL do what you're looking for.

Ok, i got the program, and only half know how to use it. It's very complicated and i can't get any of the mouse movements to go on the controller. None of this stuff every works for me it's ********.

Click on the 'Preferences' tab and ensure that 'Use POV Switches' is enabled.

Then go back and set up POV1:UP to mouse vertical 100, POV1: DOWN to mouse vertical -100, etc.

You can test it out on the fly to see if your settings 'take'.

Does the xbox controller show up and work fine in Windows' Game Controllers control panel applet?

If so, then this program will work.

It's hard to figure out..mainly because the author is Japanese so the documentation is a little weak.

How many game controllers do you have installed on your machine right now?

Sometimes you have to click on Joystick 1, Joystick 2, etc until you find out which one is assigned to your xbox controller.

Another option would be to make sure all other game controllers are not plugged in and use the 'Joystick 1' section.

Yes, My Windows Game Controllers recognises it's connected. I have no other Joysticks, Gamepads, Steering Wheels nothing like that installed on my PC except for this one. I got it half working, but i still need to try the POV thing. So thanks for your help once again i shall try it out right now and get back to you asap. Thanks.

Um I was just wondering how anyone could feel more comfortable with a darn controller than with a good ole mouse and keyboard? I always dream of being able to use my mouse/keyboard with my friends consoles. I feel handicapped with a controller.

my mates buy controllers... noobs... its like ok so that button actually does x and that button actually does y.... you have about 8 buttons and 2 axis's and on a keyboard you get like 50+ buttons and a mouse...

Just get a zboard :p
