Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

This isnt an exploit like a wall hack, its just dishonorable. Easy to fix too. I admit I do some squad lameness, mainly sneaking into bases and invite people to join and spawn on me to take a base, especially a back base. Its abusive, but fun, just like a team that can spawn on all its members. Honestly though, if it isnt fun who wants to do it? Constantly switching squads is boring. Plus using external VOIP programs kind of sucks too.

There are obviously many ways to be a smacktard, and various degress of smacktardness. The goal is not to take it too far.

one more thing, a fellow player came up w/ this point while pubbing last evening, what about when your team is gettting backed into your uncappable (being raped i mean). the ability to spawn off of the squad leader, whether it be you or someone else who just became squad leader, is a necessity in certain circumstances, and that is 4 spawns that could be potentially raped from the ticket count in a span of 60 seconds (if ea implemented a 60 second rule). its a convenient tool inside the "game's" mechanics for such said circumstances (it actually helps the balancing issue from bf42 about uncap raping, and in this scenario it is a positive facet of the squad/spawn sytem.

        Hu?
        That made very little sence...

I think you're trying to say that when you're getting base raped, it's good to have SLs that you can spawn at.

        Yes?

Why would you require squad hoping for this concept?
Could you not just go with a SL who knows what he's doing and get's the frak outta there instead of allowing himself to get raped?

there's been many times i've been backed into a base where we have no commander, all the assets have been blown up, sniper everywhere, tanks rolling in, choppers, jets, you name it... rollin' in. but someone between poundings, manages to find an escape route at an opportune moment. this person is in a squad. he has room in his squad, you jump in and spawn on him. for safety's sake, you split up from him for a fraction of a second. and he gets wasted by a passing jet, he should be able to respawn on me for the game's on respect to fun. its a balancing mechanism, that helps the team being raped get out of the pocket. its using it with moderation, like others have mentioned. having 8 squads in a 16man server is a lil rediculous. i have to agree that that type of gameplay is exploitive in nature, not when a person is trying get back w/ his mates, or get out of the main.

Believe it or not it is possible for people to miss this kind of thing, especially when those people did the designing.

The get it working, call it good, and move on. When they are playing, they know how it was intended to work and thus generally don't try to exploit their own system... it just doesn't occur to them.

It's QA's job to report exploits 'n stuff and we all know how effective the BF2 QA has been to date (for whatever reason, there's some obvious problems here).

If they truely intended for this stuff to be going on, why even bother with the whole squad thing? Seems to me it would be much more simple to just spawn off anyone at any time. That's the effect, so why not just cut the BS?

All that said, I'm not sure they really need to close this hole. It's not a big deal to me personally.

It is a pain for casual gamers who want to play in nice stable squads and who get a little huffy when guys are endlessly popping out of no-where. Since there's lots more casual gamers than hardcore fans, it's prolly a good plan to play to them. We can also see that there are hardcores that would rather see this closed too.

Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

Hey Brindled... don't take this as being a grammer policing action or anything, but do you read your posts before you hit submit? I can tell you've got things worth saying, but you could work on your mode of communication a bit.

Using Capital letters at the start of your sentances help make them more readable.

Using breaks helps make each of your points understood.

                Just some friendly pointers.

                Back on topic:
I really don't see the problem you're presenting. The SL's job is to be the heart of the squad. His mates should back him up at all times. If he's getting killed before he can even make it out of his base (and there's no medic to revive him) you're not playing as an effective squad (that or the enemy is just that good).

Besides, the engine can't make judgment calls. It's all or nothing. Plug the hole or let it go.

Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

Alot of people (presumably those who abuse exploits) try to justify exploits like this by saying that using them incurs some amount of skill. While it is true that some exploits do require skill (ie bhopping in the old days of CS), that does not make them fair tactics. This exploit was never put into the game purposely and is a "feature" that will most likely be removed. However, so long as admins don't ban for it and it doesn't go against the RoE, I see no reason for players not to be able to abuse it. Use it as much as you like before the oppurtunity is gone.

                        Because everbody can do it

Because if somebody don't like it and his ass get pwnd by this systeem.
doensn't mean it is a exploit

Solution: Play better and whipe the squad out or set you squad at a lock.
                        is this so hard??
ohh no het ownd by the systeem so they canne whine instead fighting.

Yes it occur some amout of skills, because people who use this systeem are more aware what happening around them then people who not using it.
and also it's much better team play because you can directly support the squadleader.

instead walking 1 miles for the battle.

also simple solution, if you not want squadhoppers.

lock your dam squad then pff, or not?
you are you just happy that somebody see you that you are hiding at base but nobody want to spwan at you!

But only the squadhopper do

So skills and teamplay is behind this tacktick.

By first time playing it, do you remeber the voice saying. if you join a squad you can use the squadleader as a mobile spwanpoint it (voice help ingame)!!
