I agree they need to limit the amount of squad hopping. I do it all the time and call on people to join my squad as soon as I sneak by to a flag; its a cheap tactic I admit it.
Especially on Karkland I think is the one where they go for the back flag first and just try to end the round the quickest instead of enjoying the game for what it is and also try to score some points.
You get some good smart players who have mics or know what they are doing and can spot out where squads are all the time; you have an undefeatable team. With the squad members quit/rejoin and spawn on the buddy alive; which again I do all the time and they really should clamp down on it a little but don't overdue it.

Chances are people won't do that since it smacks 'em with a -2 penalty and causes them to wait for respawn (and chances are, but the time they respawn, the SL they want to hop to will be either dead or out of position).

It's worth noting that that this would solve the issue of people smacking insert and making one man useless squads as a way to bypass autobalance.

To make it a good system, you should get your first squad function for free, tho. Either when just joining or at the begining of the round, you should be able to make/join a squad.

I'd like to see some disussion on this since it's something that Dice should be able to implement fairly easily.

Oh yeah... squad hopping and cycling technicly is an exploit simply because it's not how the system was intended to function. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing... or that I don't use it myself.

From an objective view point, I do think this hole should be sealed up.
Wargimp I'm tottaly not listing to you anymore because you are that guy who said AA take skills right?

not intend?? guy The first time playing the game bf2.

                Unbeleiveable.

It didn't take you guys long to start complaining about something else. So is this the way it is? If it's something you don't use, then it must be an exploit. C'mon, try adapting to the game instead of whining to make the game change to your style.

I'm not in a clan anymore and I use this tactic now and then. It means you're paying attention to what's going on around you. If I die, while I'm waiting I check the map to see where help may be needed and that's where I go. I have no loyality to one squad, unless it's a squad working extremely well together. I'm playing to help the entire team and if there's an opportunity to defend or attack a flag that's not in the vicinity of where I was, then I go there, regardless of who's the squad leader.

So stop complaining about everything in the game that's not "your style." Man you people are like children....."IT'S NOT FAIR."

And I still think that it is much more eficient to use only support and Assault classes when facing infantary...even if the other team has medics it can´t keep up with the amount of fire power that can be put on by a squad of only Assault/support/spawning mates. If that happens you will see that the medic will only get killed with the squad mate he is reviving.
eficient is that you can spwant right to the nemey if a squadleader is near the battle.

instead walking 1 mile to get there

@wargimp here is the meaning of the word exploit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploit...line_gaming%29

You see: exploit are like the superman bug, strike at karkand bug, c4 detonater bug ect ect

Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

An exploite is taking advantage of a bug OR oversight in design that allows you to do things that were not intended.

                        From the wiki:
an exploit is usually a software bug, hack or bot that contributes to the user's prosperity in a manner not intended by the developers.

Right because it;s no bug or somethiing.

Yeah, I was going to post some more on this, but really, what's the point now?

EDIT: Actually, I do have one last thing to say. Remember, the sprint exploit that was fixed with v1.2? I think that shows two things:

                            1) An exploit, as far as DICE is concerned, doesn't have to be something that abuses a programming error (wall glitching, for example). Gameplay mechanics can be "exploited."
                            2) If it took DICE this long to correct what they deem an exploit, who's to say that they won't adjust other things in the future?

this is not a flame. maybe they should implement your idea of the use of squads, in the league you play. however, i like the feature just fine. it was one change that drew me in even stronger from the early bf versions and especially the mods. it is one thing i enjoy and look forward to when playing with friends using any of the voip services. maybe it is exploited in whatever sort of "reality" system that is in place, but to me it is one thing this "game" has done right. interaction with others is great. what's even better is when you are relatively alone (meaning not in any voip server) and a random pubber understands how to work as a "team" and be a squad leader if need be and uses ingame voip. for example, one evening i played in a squad with a gentleman who spoke spanish as a first language, but he knew yes, no, and a few other words. <----that is what i mean about being a great game. "the more the merrier." being a squad leader to me is one of my favorite aspects of teamplay, especially if i have good commander. i will avoid getting points anytime if it aids our team by being a hidden spawn point (it's a stealth aspect of the game, "fog of war" kind of thing), since i am a teamplayer first. i am a leader and a follower, if it wins the game while maintaing interaction with other actual humans and retains a fun value. i should be able to spawn on my men, especially with all the other tactics/exploits people use on a regular basis. dont get me wrong, i see the potential for its abuse, but i have only been in a few servers where it is used to its full potential/exploitation (whichever you want to call it). i am not a win "whore" either. if i am losing i take the loss, i dont hop from US to MEC just for the stats (what fun is there in seeing a false stat, its like lying about one's height--everyone can see it), as anyone can see by my losses. :) and clan servers are my favorite to play in. yes, i am in a clan, but our bf2 division dissolved and we have only a handful on vent. our squads usually never go above 3 o4 per squad, unless random pubbers join us playing w/ teamwork.and if they make it into the squad i will usually greet them w/ my southern hospitality. regardless of my opinion, this thread is an interesting topic.

Squadhopping means that everyone on the map plays as a squadleader. In a 8vs8 game, that's no problem, every team can have 8 squads (if not even more, I dunno). So in Clanwars there are 8 Squadleaders walking around. If someone dies, he has not only the usual flags and his spawnleader to spawn at - he can just leave his squad, and join ANY squad where he wants to spawn in that moment. Afterwards he leaves the squad again and creates his own squad again (so people can use him as a spawn point again).

It is pretty obvious that this is an exploit not intended by the developers. People who REALLY want to use the built-in VoIP system have a great disadvantage, because they rely on hierarchical communication, teamplay and real tactics, instead of bland squadhopping.

The squad system speeds up the game by a great amount. But this exploit is just too much. You don't really need to attack well coordinated. If you have trained to "squadhop", then your attack will last much longer than it ever could usually - the squadleader cannot really die, because everyone's a squad leader. This advantage will outweigh any clever attack schemes or any perimeter defense. The only way to stop an attack now is to kill ALL the attackers within 15 SECONDS! If only one of them survives - ALL the others will spawn again, using the last survivor (being a squadleader of course) as a spawn point. That's plain stupid.
I do not see this as an exploit. It is a valid tactic used to get where you need to be. I'm sick and tired of everyone carrying on about "exploits" in some way or another. This is definitely NOT an exploit. You just either have to suck it up and get used to it, or go play Day of Defeat, no squads there.
I dont know what kind of servers you play on but it seems that they are rather suspect themselves if this is something you consider a problem. Next thing you know someone just like you will say that UAV is an exploit because it allows everyone to see you when you are "trying to hide". This is really lame.
Play in a TWL or CAL clan server and watch the way they play, try and larn something instead of crying about all the things you have to power to control, like the server you play on.
And how do the pubsters know what the developers inteded anyways?
