Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

Naw, I prefer to play in nice stable squads. My sessions usually start with me bopping around from squad to squad until I find a group I'm happy with (Ie, talking, working together, not smack-tards). When I get one I like, I stick with it. This often results in me looking at the clock too many hours later and thinking, "Damnit... I'm having too much fun! One more round!".

I've heard it echoed from my mates plently of times too.

Wow you really need to sort out your priorities in life mate. This is a facet of the game, use and abuse every second of it.
If there is a squad on the other side of the map taking a pounding, then my priority is to get another flag so they have an alternate spawn point. This way they don't have to take a pounding, they can re-group and attack. I would never spawn on them and take the pounding with them. After I spawn and die the second time, I spawn somewhere else to re-group. I stay in the squad I am in. I don't hop. Neither do my fellow clan mates. I guess we just don't need to. Switching squads detracts from the game experience for me. Why even have squads if you just jump from one to another? It does not allow for people to get better at playing as a team. It makes people play more as loners. Being in a squad and staying in it; working with that squad to control and dominate, that's where the fun is for me.

As far as priorities in "life"; this game is not one of them. It's a fun distraction sometimes, but by no means a priority in my real life.

It does work out for me well when someone else is doing it. I get lots of kills all in the same spot. Ty for that.

That's where you and I differ. We don't use 1 person as leader, but work as a team, cycling the squad to spawn with reinforcements. It's not 1 person telling all else what to do. But all of us communicating and working as a team.

By leaving 1 person as squad leader, when all die. They all have to start back where they started, instead of continuing on from where they left off.

There are guys in these threads that have 200+ more hours in a tank than I do. Other than that.. can you point out ANYTHING in my post that is negative or against being a team? I think not. I beg you to explain how I contradicted myself. Please point it out for me.

If that sad attempt to hurt my feelings is the best you got, you should go sit in the corner.

well the game is BATTLEFIELD 2 so in a real battle field a squad leader should have a few squad mates at his disposal. it adds to the stratigy as well i think cuz you can do that as well so its not like its unbalanced it adds to the battlefield atnosphere

                Hah, blow me assfife.

Prepare to do it alone buddy, and have your minor accomplishment burnt when they take it back with ease.

As I stated, this is a facet of the game, and if people like me exploit the option to jump around the map after death then we will. You may feel personally that it "detracts from the game experience" well so what, your team still loses. In reality, you do need to kill the enemy aswell as capture cities etc, otherwise what then? Its called D-Day; Germanys failure to obliterate the English when they had the chance resulted in them losing France with relative ease. Yes certainly the Nazi's focus was on Russia at the time, but that's a side point = Germany didnt do the job properly on the western front.

It makes people play more as loners. Being in a squad and staying in it; working with that squad to control and dominate, that's where the fun is for me.

And thats where I compare you, you'd rather be the german in Egypt, than be the one in france, or the one in russia. Im the russia guy, and our commanders are typically in france. but you? you're nowhere to be seen, taking places that prove ultimately useless because the other team takes it back so quickly.

As far as priorities in "life"; this game is not one of them. It's a fun distraction sometimes, but by no means a priority in my real life.
********, I bet this game is your life.

Now you tell me where I am wrong, or hide your head in shame mate.

But you DID read my posting about exploiting the squad system in 5 simple steps??

No offense, but your posting is one of those where it seems that someone thinks that I just want the squad system to be completely removed. But that's not what I want.

BTW I DO exploit this with my clan too! We are only mediocore players, and as long as this exploit exists we have to use it just as our enemy does. Unfortunately there's absolutely no way to control how many squads your enemy used etc. so you cannot set up any "fair play" rules, because there isn't any possibility to control that without the help of a "referee" or something like that. Setting up and enforcing rules against Basecamping was easy and made matches more interesting. But that squadhopping thingy isn't that easy to handle if you don't want it - only a patch could solve this with an option, like "sv.respawnDelayAfterSquadChange" in seconds...

Well, since my kill to death ratio AND my win to loss ratio are both much higher than yours does that mean anything? I mean, other than the fact that you talk out your ass and don't have a leg to stand on?

You can insult me all you want dude, but in the end... you might want to wait until your a bit higher on the food chain before you go after someone who (from looking at the numbers) would eat you alive online.

i'm sure your teams losing records have nothing to do with this...but. if you don't like it then don't use it. but don't bitch about people using it as a tactical advantage. not everyone has to agree with you and I think its one of the newer features in the bf series that actually has a positive impact on the gameplay and the speed of the game.

Re: Why exploiting the BF2 squad system sucks

WOW. I didnt know people swoop as low as squad hopping !!

I know about jumping in and out of your OWN squad. I have done it. But only when I really cant be ar$ed to spend the next 2 minutes getting back to my boys.
But jumping from one squad to another is just plain WRONG.

I think something should be done, and Im taking about wot I do, just within my own squad. I used to like the idea of finding out who the squad leader was, so I could take him out and stop the rest of his squad from spawning on him (good tactic). But I dont do this any longer cos I now know that anyone in the squad can be the SL (shame)
Having a delay would solve the problem, but create more when, like WARGIMP stated, you wanna jump in and out of a few squads to make sure the SL aint in a plane or the squad you just joined are useless.

The idea of 6 squads of one person is silly to say the least. The fact that this thread has stated that this has came from clanmembers and/or clan matches, just makes me think that clans are more gay than I thought they was before. (opps)

Ain't dat the truth. I don't join that Squad. Or get out the instant I find out. What are those idiots thinking? Actually, a Sniper can be a very good Squad Leader but few actually are.

Yeah, because in real life when a squad leader dies, everyone else in the squad just stands around kicking the corpse screaming "WTF DO WE DO NOW, ASSHAT?"

                              If they just...

                              - Allow spawning to SL only if you were on that squad when you died.
                              - Leaving/joining squad(s) while dead would disable/hide mobile spawns.

This would effectively remove ability to "squad hopping" or "squad cycle". Actually, i think the second one alone would be enough to fix these...

Someone also mentioned somewhere that disabling the whole squad menu while dead would also fix these problems but it think its too drastic since you should be able to plan your next spawn location while dead.
