For the SF In my opinion it would be the L96A1 which is basicly for the EUROPEAN Snipers, also my country Australia uses the L96A1 :) and heres the link ladies and gents.

Yup, like I said, the Brits should have their Accuracy Internationals (a.k.a. L96a1)

          No Worries, Mate.

I'd own an ASM (.338 Lapua) if I had the cash... they're damn fine rifles. Right now all I can afford is an accurized Remington 700 PSS in .308. AI offers 'chassi systems' for the Rem 700, but they've gone up in price nearly $300 since I last looked at them (so the stock I'd want runs $964 US now). I figure for that, I can buy a suppressor for my vanilla .308

ROFL I wish we sold them to the public m8, our laws are wayyyy different from where you are.

And hey, if your a Sniper fanatic such as myself why dont you go and buy Armed Assault when it comes out and well team up, shooter and spotter?

              Oh Snap!

Another 'Flashpoint' style game? That's gonna rock even more than BF2! I'm definitely in When it comes out I'll either be "Selectedmarksman" (my primary ID) or "Tactical_Marksman" as I am here.

That's one of the things I like about the SF expansion that most people haven't taken advantage of. With the Sniper having the zipline, and Assault having the grappling hook, the two could team up for one hell of a sniper-spotter team. They could get ANYWHERE... and when things get too hot for precision fire, the spotter can whip out his FN2000 grenade launcher and cover their exfil. Unfortunately, I haven't run into any players willing to engage in these tactics. BF2 is still at least 50% Noobs :p

The bottomline still is: There is no ban on .50 cal use vs. personnel, this is a urban (military) myth.
Urban legends are a kind of folklore consisting of stories often thought to be factual by those circulating them. This not merely folklore but based on hard actual facts. Simply because the it is not a statement within the Geneva or Hague ...does not make it or not make it a law. Clearly you have no conceptual idea how legal interpretation works in the military so I will leave you to your attempt of thinking you are correct in your statements semantically. The existence of Judge Advocates in every branch of service is for that very reason. Because there are LAWS that exist both in the “letter of the law” and the moral code military must abide by. Like any LAW…they are vulnerable to change. Trust me when I say Rules of Engagement are LAW.

Isn't there supposed to be a new sniper unlock in the next 1.2 patch?

BF2 needs more .50cal sniper rifles. IMO every army should have a .50cal (or greater) rifle as their default sniper weapon.</sarcasm>

                                Accuracy International AS50
                                Russian Sv-98
                                TCI M89 SR
                                CZ 700 M1
                                Walther WA2000
                                Parker-Hale M85

Any of these would have been great choices. The M95 should be able to cut a person in half. It should NEVER take 2 shots to kill someone with it if they are hit in the center mass. The AS50 would ahve been my first choice though.
