i think i just made a HUGE discovery about tanks.

i was just in battlerecorder, and i saw a little cube on the bottom of the inside of the tank. i remember in halo 2, there was like a "deathball" inside some vehicles, and it was like the weakspot (1 shot kill).

could this be the explanation for all of the 1 shot kills we hear about?

i decided to test this. i looked at the APC, it also had it.

i saw the tank get blown up. i looked under there. guess what? yes, the cube was gone. same for the APC.

so this must deal directly with the tanks health.

    does anyone know about this?

(i will post pictures in a minute.)

It's sloppy modeling by DICE. Nothing you can hit and nothing to do with the "sweet spot."

Yeah... looks like a dumby that was left visable.
I wouldn't be suprised if that's the tank's center of gravity or possibly the pivot for the turret.

        It's a basic sorta "oops".

If the M95 was more realistic, it would be able to penetrate the armour and hit the target spot. Your never know what that same spot may be in reality? fuel tank? One shot KABOOM! tank explodes...

                god dam i wish lol

the m95 is designed to be an anti material rifle anywyas not a anti personell

I think it should have really low damage on people but should be able to blow up grenades on people's chests and stuff, that would be awesome

The wreck model and the playing model are two completely different models. It does not get morphed into the wreck model, the playing model gets destroyed and is replaced with the wreck model.

That is not the sweet spot. The sweet spot is not really a sweet spot, it is more like a shot placed sweet to a general area of the tank. You can do this shot on any of the tanks and the LAV.

Don't believe me? Open up the ServerObjects.zip file and browse through the tweak file and any other con file associated with the abrams (or any other tank for that matter). Look around all you like, you won't find the sweet spot. But in doing so, I already know that many people will misinterpret what they see in those files due to lack of understanding of what that stuff means.

A small portion of the community knows how to do it, and an even smaller portion knows why it works. Most people aren't going to give it up, it would no longer be an advantage to know that shot if everyone knew it, kind of get what I'm saying? If they do tell anyone, they are only going to tell someone they trust not to run amok telling everyone else about it.

That is most likely the place holder for the engine. In BF2 the engine code needs to be attached to and actual model part. The hidden box is an easy way to accomplish this. Place holding boxes appear in most tracked and wheeled vehicles in BF2. Hope that helps.

All this search for weak spot, its useless, there are weakspots, but what are the chances you will get the chance to aim when you are shooting a tank?

All you need to know is, rear = high damage, front = low, side = med, it might help if you know track = high, but thats it, you will never get the time to aim at the weakspot when you are fighting another tank.

that would be cool to take out the M95 and blow away a tank

M95 cannot kill a tank, PERIOD.
