Guys, do you have any idea why DICE picked the US, China, and MEC. THEY'RE MILITARY SUPER POWERS! If you really must play as troops from where you live, how about a EU army okay? They have it in "BF2: Modern Combat" (though I've never played).
Anyway, I'd like to see more of the Russians (not sure which side they'd fight on, but they are probably pretty p***ed at the British after the incident of "Ghost Town"). Perhaps India too (they could fight China and the MEC). The only problem is that both those armies would just be another fighting force armed with Russian weaponry, and I think we've seen enough of that.

Guess overseas France's reputation regarding warfare is far worth then what would be justified. They acctualy have quite a standing army and not long ago they destroyed the whole airforce of the ivory coast in a day. wasn't much to do though. anyhow i wouldn't mind having France in. Now the Germans, they really have an underfounded army. Small special Forces are good though, i guess

I am not anti american (not by a long shot) nor am I a patriot, and neither are the majority of the french people, disapproving of the war in Iraq does not mean I don't like you, so I don't see what all the french bashing is about...
Well, we have won wars after WWII: We won the 1st and 2nd Gulf wars, and our performance in Korea wasn't that bad. The loss at Vietnam was due to horrible administration and planning, the ****ing president back then wouldn't even let us bomb millitary installations, fuel depots, or any other strategic location because he thought it would **** off the Russians, or have negative impact. He also forbid troops from going to those places, and threw them out in the jungle instead.

Not Canada bashing here, I love the place, been there on several occasions. Nice people, clean cities, just not the greatest millitary, thats all. And hell, you dont really need one, everybody loves Canada!
But I do think having Canada and France would be lame, not only because of weakness, but because there isnt much of a storyline there. I mean, why would Canada invade another country all of a sudden? Or France for that matter! Sure, the French messed with the Ivory coast a bit, but fighting a 3rd world country isnt that hard.
Personally, I think we should have North Korea Vs the Russians or Americans. I also think we should have have Israel Vs MEC.
I say we add russia, and US vs. Russia, that would be awesome. And with better weapons than the spetznaz have now. I'm thinking of something like the AN-94 Abakan for assault. AK-74 for medic etc.
...They haven't won a single war in history... with the exception of Joan D'arc (no french man can lead France to victory) and the 2 world wars, where france would have totally lost if not for britain and the US (and other allies).
Canadians would be retarded, im sorry. they have the exact same weapons as US, just older, with less upgrades, and different names to make them seem different. maybe they have a unique apc... itd be basically like MEC and insurgents, practically the same.
Germans would rule, but they are in POE, so BF2 doesn't need to waste its time trying to crappily do what POE can dedicate itself to.
IRA would be tacky. Whats the map gonna be, SAS invading some Irish village ... controlled...by...IRA...? That doesn't sound right...
North and South Korea would actually make a lot of sense in this scenario, but EA would most likely just make NK a clone of China with 2 different vehicles, and SK would be a clone of the US with 2 different vehicles.
Israel is perhaps the best idea, as they don't really use US equipment as much as they develop and use thier own, and Israel makes the most logical sense to be in a war with a MEC.
The one thing I would find interesting about the IRA angle is the maps could be based on western european cities that arent ravaged by war. I wouldnt mind playing in Derry, Belfast, London, Dublin whatever. I love the city maps but get rather bored of the bleak middle eastern warzone in the game. Anyway there hasnt been any Irish cities/villages controlled by the IRA in about 85 years :p.
As someone else has suggested snow maps would be excellent. A South American jungle scenario would be a nice change I think.
I'd take anymore variation on maps or armies anyway as the game gets rather boring, rather fast.
EU faction made up of British, German and French forces.
Lynx helos, ChallengerII, Leopard & Leclerc tanks, Famas rifles, Tornado bombers, Typhoon fighters etc. Theres a good range of decent kit on offer. Different classes for different nations.

Napoleon won lots of battles, but he lost the wars. True he was a great military leader... but he made the huge blunder of attacking Russia...in...the...winter...
Also, adding the regular Candian military, as I said, would just be American weapons slightly differently configured, and with 2 different vehicles. The coyote obviously was inspired by the LAV, and its interesting to note that it isn't describe as 'the best' at anything, simply 'very good'.
You are correct in stating that, while underfunded, you are respected. Its just that thier arn't that many (compared to other US, The countries that would make up a MEC, and the PLA), and, because you are so similar to the US, DICE would do what they did to you in 42: Give you the most horribly retarded Canadian accent in the world, and all except for 1 or 2 weapons in your kits, you'd have the same weapons, and except for maybe 1 or 2 vehicles, you'd have the same vehicles. Not an amazing addition to the game.

France did not win our independence. Americans fought many more battles, and lost many more men in the course of the revolution. If I am correct, really the only notable thing that the French did was use thier navy to blockade off the British navy During the battle of Yorktown. While this did help a lot, I wouldn't say that the French won the war for us, especially considering the main reason they entered the war was to try to mess with Britain.
I don't respect a country based on it's military past so much as other things... but when considering adding it to a game where the military's of different nations are fighting... I think its a thing to consider, yes. Another reason France would make a bad addition is that it doesn't fit well into the BF2 storyline at all, considering how currently France has not helped America or Britain in Iraq at all, I don't think they'd be eager to take on a MEC and the PLA at the same time.
Now, If I remeber correctly... France got smashed so quick mainly because of two things.
1) France, and all of Europe, failed to do anything other than bitch at Germany for building it's gigantic military (which was illegal according to the treaty passed at the end of WW1), and LET Germany become the military beast it became, instead of nipping it in the bud.
2) France built a gigantic wall of defenseive fortifications and bunkers on the French-German border. This wall was heavily manned, and billed to the French peope as a line of defenses that would save them from Germany, should it attack again. This defenses were manned with most of the French military, which was very small because of the economic state of the country after WW1. When Germany attacked, they went right around the wall, through Belgium, which considered themselves neutral. Apparently, French military commadners just assumed Belgium would be on thier side, and they built thier entire plan for the defense of Germany around that assumption.
You mention Vietnam, another disastrous French defeat. While it was also a disatrous defeat for the US, the defeat was inflicted by our own politicians, despite the amazing performance and effectiveness of our military when one thinks that the US has never fought such a large scale war with no front line. Another factor contributing to defeat was the overly negative and overly liberal American media, which disproportinately displayed and emphasised minor defeats and technicalities, and almost never mentioned positive events or victories. Much the same is happening with America's media coverage of Iraq as well. When the media tells you that you're country is losing a war, the major populace who is too lazy to actually reasearch anything on thier own, beleives it, and it creates a culture of defeatism. Basically, politicians and media defeated the US in vietnam, not the NVA or VC.

To my understanding... when I think IRA, i think Irish terrorists trying to assasinate the King or somethign like that. If that understanding is correct, I don't see how you can make gigantic multiplayer levels about the IRA, which would just be a few terrorists trying to kill or blow something up.
