PKM being outsniped by an AK in 5.45?* Something's wrong here.
*For those of you who don't speak Gun, that's the AK101 or the AK-SU.
Just a hypothetical question. Anybody like to play support, but think the machineguns are just... not good enough? Not being able to hit anything, no range, prone only...?
Does anybody else think it'd be more fun if the support class gave up their ammo packs for better LMGs? I miss how it was in Desert Combat, where machinegunners could actually lay down a base of fire and keep people's heads down.
Bipod code would be simply wonderful if it was executed well. Even better, being able to deploy your gun as a turret like the ones you see around the map (which are generally positioned to be useless).
How cool would that be? Prepared to recieve a charge, you open up on a squad of guys, shred two, and take a bullet to the neck. Your buddy looks up and grabs the machinegun while a medic attempts to patch you up.
Who'd give the ammo then? If we gave ammo to the support class and good killer LMGs, I think it'd be as unbalanced as spec-ops (ba-dum, chish!), so who do we give the ammo to? Engineer could take it. People would actually play them in infantry maps, then. There are flaws in the plan, yes, but I don't want to sort them all out here and now.
I know the patch is coming, and hopefully that'll fix all my worries, but to be honest, I doubt it. It'll probably make them slightly more accurate, but nothing like a LMG should act like.
