    Commander choice?

There are 3 options for commander to choose from
    artillery, UAV, and satliate scan.

After you scan the battlefield, red dots are everywhere in the map, but those aren't visible to your team, only yourself. So, the question is: would you put your mouse to the red dots and click enemy spotted (which give the enemies position to your team) or just leave it?

It could probably help your team by locating the enemies :|:
but the constant radio commands would be a bit annoying to some ppl....

And half of the time, your team won't listen to your command where it is cruical to the win/lose....all they care are just scores and kills......

    For example,
A few times, I was the commander of the USMC side @ Peninsula...
From the scan, I spotted a few MEC troops reaching for the TV station....
I made commands, typed dozen of msg and ppl just ignored me...

The TV station got taken by MEC and ended up USMC lose all the flags...

Actually you have to wait till the red dot dissapears before you click and spot them or else they don't show up on the map. But yes I would do it for sure. if a) there are some of your guys that can actually get the guys or b) the enemy is going after a critical flag.

if there are several enemies going after an important flag I usally tell the guys over VOIP and then spot them.

The guys that hate "commander spam"... well screw them... they don't seem to understand why you are spotting guys. (like duh to make them appear on the map so you can kill them)

I have found that around 85% of the players on your average Public Server are either Deaf, incredibly fukcing stupid.

      Or Both.

They never listen to ANYthing. Hell, sometimes i see people on my team walk RIGHT PAST an enemy. Oh the best is when they run past the enemy and im thinking "there must be noone around if he is just jogging through open ground". So as soon as i round the corner, im dead. Then my idiodic teammate turns around after finally hearing the gunshots, and gets a kill.

I hate ignorant people. And this game is FULL of them.

Luckily a good percentage end up being .50 cal/tank/chopper/jet fodder long enough for me to evade.

No, you do not have to wait for the red dot to disappear before you click on it to spot. Where did you get that idea?

To the original poster, spot those enemy that are near your forces and not on any UAV scan you have going. Do not spot enemy that are across the map as that does create unnecessary "spam" in the game.

The success rate on pointing out "Enemy Forces Spotted" from a scan is very low.

If I can, I put a UAV over the critical spots and hope that my team nearby picks up on what I'm trying to do (assuming they pay attention to my "Attack this position" or "Defend this position" commands).

For the majority of the time, only half of the team would join the squard, and another half of the squards are willing to follow your orders...
            That makes it 32*1/2*1/2 = 8 teammates....

And I found that ppl just camp @ one place after the flag is cap-ed and just simply stay @ there EVEN there is no single enemy @ sight (thr the satilate scan)

Too frustruting to be commander when your team is a bunch of noob...

From another post and verified by many hours of actually playing the game. Have you really been able to do this? I certainly get the "enemy spotted message" but the permanat type red dot that other players can see does not appear.

Maybe I'm slow but what the heck to you mean by this???

Spotting is especially usefull in the case that the UAV is deployed elsewhere and you say, have some guys trying to cap a flag not in the UAV. Spotting the enemies around them is very usefully.

Same here...both as player and CO. You say permanent red dot and that makes me wonder. From the CO's perspective, when you do a satellite scan you get temporary and stationary red dots that stay on your Command map for several seconds. Those red dots stay at the location where the enemy was when the scan passed over them. After that, they disappear until you do another scan. Nothing shows up on any of your team's mini-maps *unless* the CO spots the enemy. When the CO spots those temporary red dots, they do show up on the team member's mini-map for about 5 to 6 seconds provided of course the spotted enemy is in range of their mini-map. After the 5-6 seconds, they disappear from the team's mini-map.

                    Re: Commander choice?

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. The UAV is great; however, its coverage area is limited so the CO puts it where he believes it's needed the most (provided its not destroyed). A good CO will not fixate on one location but instead try to help his team all over the map. That's where the satellite scan comes in...if there are other CPs being attacked or CPs that your team is attacking, it is extremely useful for them to know where the enemy is. You can tell your team this by spotting the enemy using the satellite scan or doing the 3x zoom.

                      David,

I think that when you spot it as a commander with the Sat Scan red dots still there, you, as the commander, do not always see the spotted red dot. However, I do believe that the other people see it.

I have tested it and, although I can't specifically remember the results, I have seen then been under the impression that everyone else can see them. However, there are plenty of times when I hear "enemy spotted" and look at the larger map and don't see anyon. Maybe I should do another test. :)

BTW, spotting enemies that aren't anywhere near anyone else is pointless.

Scan > UAV on big group in a crucial spot ei; a positition being assaulted or flag being taken. Spot any that are near team mates, pointing out random crap on the other side of the map is what gets annoying when playing.

Well yea I get that. By permanent I meant to say the ones that last the 5-6 seconds as opposed the the fuzzy ones that the commander only sees. When I do a scan I will zoom into an area to spot. If I spot someone while the fuzzy red commander only dots are still visible a 5-6 second dot will NOT appear over they guy. Its quite annoying. (and even more annoying if this is some bug that only a few people like me get)

Hmm that could explain things. they certainly don't appear for me as commander.

The possible exeption to this i would say is if for example a lone guy is taking a critical flag. ie chinese airbase on Dragon Valley. I will spot him and voip what's going on in the hopes the chopper can get him.

This is true. As the CO, whether you spot the enemy or not, those temporary red dots will disappear when the prescribed time is up - period. The value of the CO spotting the enemy is so that they show up as red dots on your team mates' mini-map. As I said earlier, they will only show up on the mini-map for about 5-6 seconds though.
