Does Anyone Else Get This When Loading???

OK, ever since the last update ive had this problem very frequentley when the game loads.

When loading, the game will minimize itself, then when I click to open the window everything is all grey and messed up. I tried just waiting untill the game loads to see if it was just taking a while to load, but its all grey and stuff in the game too.

Heres what it looks like, small picture but you get the idea:




Notice how everything is grey and such. Does this about 8/10 times I try to play.

Anyone else with the same problem??

I cant see the picture but im guessing its the one where the box outlines are red green and blue?? If yea then yes I get that when I minimize for more than 5 minutes.

Try Re-installing and update your drivers if you havnt already

Yeah I get that too after I installed the 1.12 update. This only happens when I join an online game. Everytime I join an online game the screen flashes to the desktop and when I click back into BF2 the level loading page is all grey with a blue-green-red kinda outline to all the boxes. I can't figure out how to fix this, I've reinstalled windows like 5 times from a fresh format using different motherboard and videocard drivers but obviously that isn't the cause since it was working fine before the 1.12 update. Only time I can load an online game properly is when the screen does not flash back to the windows screen and there's only 1 or 2 servers that I can find that does not cause this. Btw, I dunno what specs y'all got on your pc that might be doing this but here's mine:

Athlon X2 3800+
DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra
EVGA 7800GT (SLI Power Connectors connected to PSU)
OCZ Platinum 2gb
Chaintech AV-710 SoundCard
Maxtor 200gb SATA
Maxtor 120gb IDE
BenQ DW1640 IDE
Enermax EG565

Drivers, Etc:
Nforce4 AMD 6.70 chipset drivers (Only SMBus and Ethernet Drivers Installed)
Xtreme-G 81.95 forceware video drivers
All Major Windows Updates
AMD X2 Driver Installed
Microsoft WinXP SP2 Dual Core Fix Installed + Registry Tweak

I've tried the official Nvidia 81.95 drivers and previous ones before that on fresh windows installs with no success.
What's frustrating is why a lotta other people aren't having this problem? Maybe the hardware we got ain't working well with it? Please post your system specs and hopefully we can figure out if there's any common hardware that's not compatible with the new update.

One other thing, the monitor and refresh rates used:
Viewsonic P95F+ (1280x1024@85hz on Windows desktop)

For BF2:
1600x1200@85hz all video settings at max with 4x AA
(Btw, the loading screen still turns out grey at all resolutions, refresh rates, and video settings I try, even the lowest and default settings.)

my specs are:

athlon 64 3200+
x800xl pci-e
2gb corsair value ram
Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra 9 motherboard
Seagate 80gig hard drive
Samsung 710N 17" LCD Monitor

Everything worked good before the last update. Now it does this to me almost every time I try to play the game.

hi i had the same prob a couple of weeks ago an manged the to fix it,(that was the good news)
the bad news is i had to change my chip i was runnung the 4800x2 64bit chip
then caused no end of probs for me so i just thought i would try my single core chip an the game ran sweet as a nut every time,
so i tryed it again with the x2 an it played up again.
there was also another player that was using the same chip that was also having the same probs i pointed this out to the other person an he brought another cpu single core an his ran ok aswell after the change.
i know this isnt good news for every one that is having probs running duel core chips,
but the chip change has worked for 2 of us i just hope that u guys have manged to fix this prob an dont have to change ur chips.
hope this has helped out abit guys.
if u cant afford to buy a new cpu ask ur freinds if u can try there cpu in your system just to test it out.
i also was was running 2x1gig an 2x512 ram this also messed my game up
if i ran with both sets of ram it didnt like it but as soon as i put just one type of ram in my mobo it ran sweet as a nut,
please note that both sets of ram where both the same make an same speed before any one says they have to be the same mhz.

my current set up is as ive changed again:

I kinda thought it could be the dual core cpu that might cause this but I tried using winxplauncher to set affinity to 1 cpu and that still didn't work. As well, supastar's using a single core cpu and is experiencing the problem. What WinXP version are you guys using? I'm on WinXP Media Center Edition 2005. I haven't tried the regular WinXP with BF2 yet.

im def NOT changing my hardware to fix this problem. It worked fine before the patch, so why mess around with my hardware to fix it?

Yeah, I get it sometimes when it switchs between BF2 and SF. Maybe it is random bug of switching between versions.

I just stopped playing this game altogether, it's whack that an update just messed everything up.

Hey I found a way to get BF2 working without that messed up colours during the load screens. I just installed WinXP Pro X64 and installed all the X64 drivers for mobo, videocard, amd x2 64 bit drivers, etc... and then installed BF2 and updated to 1.12. It works fine now incase anyone wants to install X64 to try it out.

The 1.12 patch has given problems to some pc's. For me it was lag. For you is screen problem and for someone else maybe something else. All we can do is wait for the upcoming patch to see if it fixes any of these issues.

I get this if I Alt+Tab out of BF2 during the loading screen. Any other time I can alt+tab without problems though.

I've never seen it before applying the 1.12 patch, now it happens EVERY time I Alt+Tab during loading. It's really annoying, as I've gotten the habit of always alt+tabbing and messing about in Windows/IE while the map is loading.

Berren, right after you join an online game does BF2 minimize and automatically go back to windows desktop? For me it minimizes to desktop right before the level load screen appears, then I have to click on BF2 in the taskbar to get back into the game which results in the messed up grey loading screen. Essentially, it has the same effect as alt+tabbing out of the game and coming back in except it's involuntary for me. On WinXP Pro X64 it doesn't minimize back to desktop after I join an online game so it doesn't mess things up.
