      Re: A Formal Apology...

Fig, thank you for your kind words. For the sake of honesty, though, I do need to point out that so far all anyone knows about me is what I've said anonymously on the web. I wish I had RL friends into BF2 who could come on here and verify just how serious I am about gun safety. Talking the talk is easy, walking the walk is what's important.

The only 'verification' I can provide is that I am also known as "Selectedmarksman" on HKPro.com boards and likewise as a moderator on AWBansunset.com boards. On the latter, I am known as a strict gun-safety nut who expects any self-posted pics to show good handling procedures (no trigger-finger violations, actions locked back, empty mag wells, muzzle dicipline, etc.) and do not allow threads relating to illegal gun activity.

About that sig... maybe I should alter it. I didn't intend for it to retain it's 'insult' quality. I meant it capture the self-evident hypocracy of the quote. The "how dare you judge someone you've never met" immediately followed by an evaluation both of your RL combat effectiveness and stature from someone who's never met you. I just thought it was hilarious.

But as far as the thread, I say let it live on until or unless a Mod decides to kill it. Whatever your reaction to it is, you can't deny there are lessons to be learned here.

EDITED for replies while I was writing this:

Racist? Where did anyone mention race? I don't even believe in different 'races.'

Iridium, I might grant you the point about intimidation. If they had no actual means of camo or body-armor, maybe 'surprise' is the only option. As far as cultural differences, that may be too. All my gear is basic black, made of multiple layers of kevlar, soft-state titanium rifle plates, Leather, and nylon webgear. To me, that's intimidating... maybe it wouldn't be over there. They do have a pic or two of guys wearing war paint or masks, this is something that's been done all over the world throughout the ages... African tribal war, Japanese Samurai, Vietnamese guerillas, you name it.

Do army's that have bad fighting styles ever win wars? And have these irregular fighting forces reached the capital, have they pushed back regular army forces using their ineffective fighting style? Yea.

[QUOTE=Fig]You cannot disupte this: You just said that this figting style they use is effective.

Repeat: Az-Amerikai says that the way the people pictured and videod in this document fight is an effective combat style.

I'm not even going to argue that. It's so obvious its wrong, its litterally painful for me to try to explain why.[QUOTE=Fig]

Have you forgotten the contexts of whats happening here? This is not the rolling plains of Belgium under the scrupulous eyes of Napoleon, these are poor, un-educated, angry people who have automatic weapons. Do they have the training to do any better? And do these people watch many american action movies? How do they know, unless they recieve it, a proper fighting style? They think they're fighting the in the best way how, run around and shoot alotta bullets. They may be ignorant, but thats no fault of their own.

Well, I will admit that an overwhelming numerical advantage can win a war. That doesn't make an effective fighting style, that just means there were a lot more of you than the other guys, and they couldn't shoot fast enough and ran out of ammo. That's not tactics or strategy, that's an uneven starting ground that gives the masses the advantage w/o thought.

Also, you are not considering the fact that any official military that has been beaten back by these idiots may well go down in history as the worst military in history, known for employing even worse military strategy than these gangs.

First off, in most of the wars of history, the soldiers have been poor, uneducated angry people. They just have a few officers who drilled basic military operational procedure into their heads.

Also, American Action movies are probably the WORST way to learn military tactics in the world. For example, many scenes of Rambo show you that you can kill 5 entreched enemy combatants by standing up and flexing while shooting your weapon 3 times.

But you just really don't get it do you. I understand that these guys are not trained military. What I am saying is that ANYONE who decides to pick up a gun and shoot it at people would be an idiot not to consider how to most effectively use the weapon.

Like I've already said, any fighting style that allows for quick and accurate shots, while also allowing for quick movment is a good fighting style. With as many 'battles' as these guys have been in, I'd think they have the experience to realize what an effective tactic is. I'm no genious, and I would realize most of this probably the first time I saw someone point a gun back at me.

They are ignorant. Thats a point I'm making. They are so ignorant that they run around like retards in the middle of a warzone. That is possibly the stupidest thing I can imagine anyone doing. The fact that they are stupid has no effect on the stupitidy of thier actions:

Example: I'm stupid so I'm going to run up and down screaming my head off in the middle of a library...

That's still not an ok thing to do, even if your IQ is lower than room temp(C).

This is nonsense; at least in this country. Some criminals just want your money, car, possessions, etc, and bringing a gun along to achieve that goal will mean armed robbery as opposed to robbery. The sentence for armed robbery is significantly stiffer. Quite how you can label me ignorant of how a criminal works based on a few internet posts is astounding.

It's my experience that crimes involving a weapon are more likely to occur in countries which support a weapon culture.

If you wish to discuss, etc, then please choose to do it civily and without condescending or patronizing others. It only serves to devalue your comments.

When you speak down to others useing your "morals" as a platform you are assuming a "moral high ground" on wich to base your arguments.

The desperation of the criminal will determine the extents to which they will go to get what they want. The sentance for armed robbery (armed means any weapon not just guns) is stiffer in every country I have visited. While a deterent to some, most plan on getting away with it and thus the consequences do not enter into thier thinking. Prove your knowledge and I will retract my statement. (personal experience counts)

Does your experience streach beyond your shores? What is your definition of a "weapons culture"? What do you qualify as a weapon?

First off, This is EXACTLY what i was railing against. "Lets laugh at these idiots using guns in funny ways." I don't see you over there fighting that war, so i really doubt you know how to best fight it.

Secondly, thats a very limited view of what an "effective fighting style" is. As i have said, "effective" does NOT equal "lethal." You may disagree, but consider that most battles in history are won when one side surrenders or retreats, not when they are slaughtered down to the man.

In this case, its far more reasonable to beleive these people know how to best win thier battles than to assume they are all idiots, as you claim. You hypothesize on a certain definition of "effective fighting style," while they're out there defining it.
