Although we kicked Somalia's ass if you compare the casualty stats... and we did complete the mission mostly, Clinton lacked the resolve to finish the fight.

We kinda did lose Somalia, and then thier is Vietnam, although a military victory in most respects, the goal of stoping communism failed due to political pressure to send the troops home.

We haven't won em all (this is coming from a patriotic American), but I think we've won most of the very decisive ones.

but, figthing against this sort of 'technique'... it wouldn't be a fight, it'd be closer to a chicken shoot, where the chickens wildly shoot back everyonce in a while, but usually dont hit anything.

Sometimes the people on these boards sicken me, the people in those pictures and in that video aren't playing a game they're running around with real weapons, and people are dying.
What's more, they don't even seem to be fighting against anything. There's no return fire there, they're just waving their guns around shooting indisciminately.
Hell, you can see a kid running along who can't be older than 10, firing an AK47! How is this funny?

because people have sick senses of humors. I thought the people in the pics and movie are plain idiots the way they fight, and the only thing that made me laugh was the broken magazine on the gun.

You OBVIOUSLY know very little about warfare, and possibly guns in general.

Anyone with any common sense can realize that in order to hit a target with any degree of accuracy, you need to use a weapon's sights, especially if you are new to the whole 'weapons' scene. Also, if you have a smidgen of brains, you will realize that you need a comfortable and mobile fighting stance in which you can easily aim,fire and hit a target, or turn and run for cover easily.

You do NOT need extensive military training to figure this out, just a tiny bit of common sense and value of your own life.

Especially for gangs, which fight relatively frequently, for them to not figure out any tactics is very suprising. It is amazing that such frequent fighters have such a sloppy, ineffective fighting style. There is no excuse, they have experience.

These buffoons are just that: Buffoons. They have no concept of warfare other than it involves guns and people dying. Any gang that fights like this is at the very best incredibly ineffective at hitting the desired target, and at the worst, injuring large numbers of civillians, showing that they don't give a **** about anyone but themselves.

Critiquing them is not 'beside the point', it is the MAIN point of this discussion.

I'm not in the military and I've shot guns, well- a lot. I grew up in Tennessee... However, I doubt I could hold a gun to these people in terms of rounds fired and I'm a thousand times better marksmen then these stooges. You are absolutely correct. They are idiots regardless to their situation.

Well, I can't speak for the rest of the boards, but that's sure not true about me. I do my own cleaning, maintanance, and most gunsmithing work for my own firearms to include the following operating systems: Browning Pistol (1911, etc.), AR-15, AR-15 pistol caliber carbines (OA op sys), Winchester model 70, Remington 700, Ruger 10/22 and MK II, Mossberg semi-autos, HK USPs, HK P7m8, HK SL8/G36, HK G3/MP5 roller lock op sys, FAL, and more that escape me at the moment. I also built my own 1911 Commander model out of a beat up parts kit and an 80% complete receiver with nothing more than a dremil and hand tools.

What's more, I have CCDW licenses from two states (with about 30 other states offering reciprocity) and have pistol and rifle training...

And I'm just a US civilian : P

And that deeply worries me. All those guns and you're just an average US citizen. Not meaning to imply you're some mad pyscho, but what on earth are you doing with all these guns, and I suppose more importantly why do you have them?

I am very grateful for active and retired US military members we have in the game that help make it more authentic. I can't speak for other countries where gunlaws differ, but I wish more Americans would educate themselves on proper gun handling (read: Safety) and exercise their 2nd Amendment rights (within the law of course).

That said, getting education on firearms from just games and movies is the worst possible thing to do. If you have any real interest in firearms, please seek a qualified instructor.

Basically the world would be a safer place with less killings and armed crime if the average joe didn't have such easy access to firearms.

P.S. as a side note... In New Orleans, cops went door to door disarming law abiding citizens so they couldn't protect themselves from the robbers and rapists, so they never had the option of defending themselves no matter how silly they may have looked.

It's your culture after all. So, in America defending yourself means shoot or be shot or shoot first and ask questions later? Like many posters are pointing out about these pictures, I have to say I was equally appalled by the pictures I saw during the New Orleans disaster - if not more so. These guys in the pictures don't have much and are fighting for a cause (without obvious training it would appear). Folk in the States and other wealthy nations often have too much and yet when reduced to having nothing by some natural disaster are almost as barbaric and terrifying in their actions.

Like i said in my first post in this thread, this is no laughing matter. A consciencious moderator should close this thread.

I doubt your ability to read with that last argument.

I clearly state, as do you, that these guys are not soldiers, and along with any other profession involving some degree of skill, those who lack training, perform poorly.

Anyways, they wouldn't fight that way, however idiotic it may be, IF IT DIDN'T KILL PEOPLE. These guys are fighting, and beating a real(however poorly trained) military force.

They care only for themselves?! I cannot begin to comprehend the foolishness of that statement. They're fighting for their comrades, friends, family, and ultimatley their country. Find me one of them who simply cares about themselves.

Actually, I think those people are fighting that way because they're terrified. As I would be, for sure. Look at them: most of them don't have any training, they look as if they just picked up a gun and started blasting away, probably because someone was firing at them.

Calling them "buffoons" is unjustified. It's very easy to critique someone when you're sitting at your keyboard, all comfortable and safe like. Unless you're actually facing the same situations those people are, you don't have a right to mock them.

I don't own examples of all those firearms at the moment. I am a collector and investor, all I own are HK right now, and each firearm is worth over a grand, sometimes close to three. Also, in each case, each firearm has gone up in value at least a few hundred dollars since I bought it. But, them being firearms, I recognize my responsibility to know how to handle them safely, how they function, and how to maintain them.

I do appreciate your pointing out you don't imply I'm a psycho. To own what I do, my fingerprints have been added to AFIS like a common criminal's (just in case I ever commit a crime later), my photographs have been added to government records, and I've had more background checks than I remember. I am a legal-eagle and abhore those who violate US firearms law and regulations.

That may be true, maybe not. Wholesale slaughter predated the gun by centuries. It's a question of balancing 'public good' versus personal freedom. Australia and England have strick gun laws and used them as legal precidents to move further. Australia banned swords and machettes. England is pushing to ban any toy that looks like a gun. Meanwhile criminals are robbing people in England in broad daylight, while they're at home, with no fear of resistance. As a Libertarian, I believe in as much personal freedom as possible so long as one's actions do not do harm to or restrict the freedoms of another.

I had studied Aikido, T'ai Chi, and other martial arts for over a decade before purchasing my first handgun. Firearms are the absolute last resort in self defense and I don't advise their destructive power be taken lightly. I would only employ one if I were confronted with an armed attacker (my last belt test required I handle 3 unarmed attackers simultaneously) or one of my loved ones was in mortal danger.

I can understand your point of view, and respect it. I just disagree about the gunslinger stereotype people put on American gun owners like myself. First and foremost I'm a law abiding citizen. I've been background checked repeatedly, and am undergoing a 3 month long FBI background check right now for a class III purchase I'm making for investment. I do not take guns likely and have trained myself hard to ensure they would not need to be employed unless the only other option were the death of myself or an innocent.

I have made the safety of myself and those around me a personal responsibility, as have many others like me. I don't drink, smoke, and have never used uncontrolled substances. I've never even been pulled over for a traffic violation. I believe this is the true spirit of the American gun owner, the leader, the model citizen.

You may be repulsed by the pictures, but I find them morbidly amusing. What I see are people not at all like myself. These people are not defending themselves, they are aggressive in the situations depicted. What's more, their reckless behavior seems to only serve to make them feel cool or powerful, while their lack of firearm safety and discipline puts themselves and all innocents around them in serious jeapardy. These are the kind of people who acquire guns illegally in the US, and the only kind of people who would be armed if the US banned all guns.

I hope we can agree to disagree, and respect eachother's viewpoints. Thank you for contributing to the thread.

1) As for the quote "They are living and surviving in a combate zone" Yeah of course they are...LOOK HOW THEY SHOOT...They can't hit anything to save their lives.

2) Vietnam was a military success...USA never lost a major battle and inflected at least 10-1 K|D...Vietnam was a political dissaster.

3) I don't know about you but if these "Fighters" Have been fighting and living in a war zone their whole lives...wouldn't they pick up on how to shot a weapon?
