They can clear claymores as well but without mines as a real option they are pretty limited.

Seriously, do you think that making such an increadibly stupid, self centered, and condisending remark as that to be valid in ANY way?

It numbskull crap like this that makes me think maybe players deserve the poorly designed releases they get.

In the future, before you make any kind of "suggestion" on that level kindly have your hand amputated. Do the world some good.
Wow...that was weak. Too drawn out to get the point around.

But regarding the poorly designed release, I did not create the thread, I simply showed you the light my child. As far as griefers go, I have yet to see any engineer do great damage to a base. That is refered for the C4 queens.

        Re: Mines

Some interesting points made about rethinking the way mines work.

        Here is mine.

You all know the way we hear an alarm when locked on to by missiles in vehicles.

Well perhaps a similar alarm could warn (team mates) when in close proximity to placed mines, that accompanied by squaring off each placed mine on screen just like when plains go into bomber mode too reveal land vehicles.

For those that have not seen this it’s basically putting a small coloured square around each friendly mine placed.

Each friendly mine could also be shown on our maps/radar just as players are shown but by a different icon or coloured dot so players can plan their journeys around blocked roads etc.

In tern this would avoid wasting time by having to travel back or having to blow someone’s well placed mine field to get buy.

Not only that but it would also help stop engineers completely blocking all access points off as they could see which areas have already been mined.

In this light if team mates where killed by friendly mines the engineer would (not) face a penalty for the death of team mates, as the deceased would have more than fair warning…

        That’s my input.

          Re: Mines

As much as I would like to say it isn't engineers fault, I have seen mines in some STUPID places.

For instance, on Karkand, leaving the MEC island via the waterway, I've seen them place them in the tracks, or on the enemy side of the tracks. Why? Put them on the MEC side so your team mates can see them and not the enemy. How about the road that goes up to the square....same thing, at the top? No right over the hill (with a space for friendlies to pass), friendlies can see them inbound from the main, and enemy won't see anything except.

You know though that some idiots think they can dodge the mine, and then they blow up, however tanks can go over mines easy, since the middle is empty.

              Re: Mines

I think the problem lies in the warning icon, it's the same for both C4 and the mine. Maybe if we had a different icon for the mine and for the C4 people would stop running over them thinking it was just C4.

It all boils down to a problem that has become more and more preveliant in this day and age, it's the simple fact that people can not take responisbility for there actions...

You really have to be a blind moron to run over Mines, C4, both friendly and foe...They really arent that hard to see...but yet still asshats, assbags, asswhatevers still find a way....

For this they should be punished and not the eningeer... And the whole argument that well then dipshizzles will run around mining all the frinedly vehicles is BS....for a couple reasons...One the mines are destroyable....Two you can only have 5 out at a time... Three another freindly engy can remove them...

Thats my 2 cents like it or not

                edit-

I love how people are making excuses for the retards that run over these things.... You see the skull and cross bones you slow down you notice oh phuq its a round AT mine or oh shizzle its a square hunk of C4.... I dont know about the rest of you but I can see enemy C4 and enemy ATs...now if one can see those then one should def be able to see a big phuqin red skull and cross bones and know to SLOW DOWN.... My sentiments exactly. I enjoy playing the engineer and am quite disheartened when I take the time to place mines strategically to defend our flags but still allow our team a path out of the flag, I even go so far as to yell out to our team and my squad where i've mined..the little skulls come up but players still drive over them and still punish me, yet we're trying to do our part for the team. I have had players come back and TK me cause they lost there Armor or Buggy or whatever. I like the idea of changing the symbol for either one. I think it would be nice to have the letters C4 above a C4 pack so we can differ between the two.

Yes they do get in the way... primarily meant for the enemy. Mines are a common factor in a theatre of war.. .. those little red skulls are a warning for you to go around or avoid them.

I'm still thinking that Friend or Foe mines would be the best/easiest solution.

Anyone have any thoughts on mines that can tell the differance between "enemy" and "friendly" vehicles?

If you think you can see a problem with the concept, I'd like to hear about it!

Kind of defeats the purpose of an engineer laying mines when your own team-mates are destroying them. Sincethe engie only gets 5, he then has to wait for a resupply to put more down...

Maybe a quick fix would be to remove any icon for the c4. Do we really need it anyway? I mean it helps so you can see where you put it from a distance, but I'm not convinced it helps the team out any. It would also make it more covert. Neither team would know for sure whos c4 is whos. Dunno, just a quick thought. I don't think it's the best solution and it's not fixing the main problem.

It would be a minor improvement to make the icons for C4 and mines more distinctive but I think what we need is what was posted earlier: driving over friendly mines counts as a suicide for the driver and TK by the driver on any passengers. "Griefing" would be avoided by making this only true if the mine was placed more than 5-10 seconds ago so it isn't your fault if someone actually throws a mine right in front of you.
