    Points added for cooperation

What if squad leaders and squad members were given double points for following an objective? Attacking a specific flag, blowing up something, defending, repairing, etc. As is, orders given out over the minimap hold little significance, especially with most uncooperative squads. Sometimes I'll be commander and try giving tactically efficient orders to the biggest squad and the SL will immediately give a 'Negative'. Maybe I'm being a bit of a communist with this but as a SL I beg for orders and follow them even if they are kinda silly, it makes me feel more like I'm playing a soldier. I know there are lots like me out there too, because I've seen it. Also, when you've got 2-3 squads that follow your orders as a commander the game can be really fun and strategy comes into play instead of the SLs attacking the nearest flags non stop and neglecting the important ones that will win the game.

There's probably a lot of lonewolves out there that don't bother with this stuff, but hey, it wouldn't force you, it just offers a little bonus for those who want it. I think it'd make teamplay a bit more fun. Then again, most of the community cryptically doesn't play for fun they just play for awards and they would see it as a requirement..

    Opinions?

No, I definitely think that would work. If you give points for reaching an objective (i.e. Move to this position.) I think it would drastically up the amount of squad work and such.

As far as how many points you get, I dunno? 1 per objective completed? But then you'd have squad leaders commanding "Move Here" every 2 ft. Opens the door for stat padding again :hmm:

I would definitely be behind some way of getting the squad action more...mandatory I guess would be the word. Of course, I still like joining a server every great once in a while and just lone wolfing it.

I don't think 'move here' should be included. What I was more less going for was like, putting an 'attack here' on a certain flag-- When the instructed squad neutralizes it, instead of 2 pts they get 4. 'Demolitions needed here', double the points to the spec ops that blows it up- Or evenly distribute 2 pts to everyone in the squad, or something. Of course, you'd need some kind of way for the game to 'sense' the objective nearby on the minimap.

You said everything in your post, yet your solution contributes to the problem. As you said, the majority of players play for points and rank. You're suggesting to give out even more points for such and such events. Would't it be more logical to drop points out of the game? No points, none at all. 1-0 when you win, maybe.

People know this is the reason for most of the game's problems (social problems, anyway) but most still participate. I fear for the mods because of this, unless the find some way of stting up a ranked server for a mod, which I really dont see as a possibility.

Taking points right out could be nice, but if anything you've pointed out that there is no solution. All in all I guess it's just strangers refusing to work together, ah well. BF2 still has it's golden moments once in awhile.

Yeah, but if people knew they got points by following team commands, then people would work as a team more. I'd think it would work..
