Shouldn't I be getting better frames on my comp while playing bf2 or am i wrong. I play css on everything maxed out except anti is only at 2. I've played fear at 1280 by 1024 with medium and high settings. BF2 is the only game that runs like **** on my comp. Do I need more ram or a better cpu?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
First of all you are running your XP 3200 (which has 400FSB) together with 2700 ram. That means your prosessor is not running at it's full potential. Second you have not listed your motherboard which is every bit as important as other hardware. There are several chipsets for AMD XP that does not have dual DDR support. The best chipset for AMD XP is the Nforce2 Ultra 400 which has dual DDR and 400 FSB support.

Hey thanks man turning off the voip really helped. It stays above 30 fps its a miracle. I cant believe it made that much of a difference. I can now run it at 1280 by 1024 with everyting on medium except for dynamic lights and dynamic shadows.

and a 6600 GT OC is far better than a stupid 9800, its almost as fast as a standard 6800 at a fraction of the price.

we arent all some pc nerd moron who has nothing but money to blow on BF2!

              Re: my fps are horrible!

To run a good fps on med to high specs, one needs to have the following

A Processor equivilant to Intel 3.0 ghz or Amd 2800 or above.

1.5-2 gigs of ram. This will improve not only graphics but loading times as well.

ATI x800 or above or Nvidia 6800 or above. Your gpu is the most important part, even more important than processor!!

A power supply sufficient to run you video card and other apps - 475-650 watts.

A good fan/cooler for your graphics card.

Overclocking your video card will help if you know how and have a good enough cooler for your card.

Creative X-Fi card once the bugs are worked out will help because those cards (sans the basic) have extra ram that will run the sound on your cpu so your on-board ram won't have to.

Yup I agree with Grudge... ive just spent an absolute fortune sorting my PC out, but finally, yes finally! I cracked it... it looks truly awesome!

bit off topic I know but with the changes I did to make BF2 look sweet, CSS was pulling 100+ fps last night which I diddnt think was possbile...
