New Features

The Catalyst® 5.12 software suite introduces dual core support for CPU bound cases. This feature provides improved graphics performance for DX 9 supported graphics adapters installed in systems running the Windows XP and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating systems.
Performance Improvements

Catalyst 5.12 improves a variety of CPU-bound performance cases when an ATI product is installed in conjunction with a dual-core or hyperthreading CPU. Performance gains include:

• 3DMark05 gains as much as 5.7%
• 3DMark03 gains as much as 3.3%
• 3DMark2001 SE gains up to 10%
• Aquamark 3 gains up to 16%
• Comanche 4 improves as much as 20%
• Far Cry gains as much as 25% on some product configurations
• Half-Life 2 performance improves as much as 8%
• Splinter Cell improves as much as 8% in certain parts of the game
• Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness runs as much as 10% faster
• Unreal Tournament 2004 framerates improve as much as 10%

Downloaded and using. Everything seems the same. My 3dMark05 is about the same (never get the same score twice to begin with, but I've gotten better), Special Forces sees no change and BF2 1.12 maybe, hard to tell. Overall, 5.12 doesn't appear to have done anything other than disappoint one of two options for a "quick fix". Now it's up to EA to pick up the ball. Or... perhaps Omega will do something magical , but doubful. Good luck to nVidia users and their next update.

My AIW 9800 Pro 128 does not work with these drivers either. The 5.11's and now these always make BF2 and SF crash to the desktop when I attempt to launch the game. Doesn't matter really for me since the 5.10 seem to work great anways.

Interesting. I've always thougth that rolling back to earlier drivers was more of an nVidia thing. I'm not putting them down though, I'm actually seriously thinking of doing my next rig with nVidia.

My next card if Nvidia, nuff said.

Unbelieveble that ATi forces us to take CCC. I don't want all that bloatware on my PC, I prefer a normal COntrol Panel. For now I will use Omega Drivers, in the future I will just go with Nvidia.

same, I had problems with my night visions.. whenever i face a light source, it will have the sort of blurry white stuff that floats around your screen.. like a paranormal experience..

Yeah, these are better than the current Warcats 5.11XT.
