To Newb Tube or not to...that is the Question.

First let me say sorry for my spelling.

2 Weeks ago when EA released 1.12 Patch and BF2:SF the patch caused such lag on my computer that the game was unplayable...after sitting on hold with EA for an hour they tell me, It will work itself out, WOW THANKS I see that G.E.D. is really helping you out.

So I was forced to play CS:S for the first time. After playing CS:S for 2 weeks I got annoyed with every other kill being a head shot through a wall so I reinstalled BF2. And lo and behold it did work itself out.

I start to play and instead of Everyother kill from a head shot its now the Newb Tube? I don't remember it being this bad 2 weeks ago...WTF!?!?!

So I sit down to think about why people are Newb Tubing eachother at point blank range and suiciding only 25% of the time, Heaven forbid the shooters dies from a 203 Nade going of 3 feet away.

I have come to the conclution the 3 reasons why People Newb Tube so much now.

Reason 1...Bunnyhoppers. You don't know if that guy is going to bunny hop you...You don't know if when you start to shot that guy with the Ak if he is just going to do a Dolphin Dive in mid-air and turn around and head shot you...it happens often enough so why even bother with the uncertainty...just Newb him.

Reason 2...Weak Weapons. Many a time I have got behind someone and unloaded a clip to only have him not die...LAME!!! If you get shot with a 7.62 or a 5.56 round or ROUNDS...you are not getting up and walking around...let alone still fighting. So solve the problem with a nice 203 to the back.

Reason 3...Hit Box issues/Bullet trajectory. I thought the Hit box issues were bad in CS:S but compaired to BF2 it looks like a God Send...Sure Every other Kill is from a head shot...but atleast the Bullets hit. The weapons in BF2 might as well be 1812 Muskets for accuracy. The M-16A2 has a point target accuracy of 550 Meters, the M-4 330, the Ak 300...try hiting anything over 75 with the above weapons. You are lucky to get 2-3 hits at 50 Meters...so don't even bother just get one and Kill them...Newb Tube.

Yes Newb Tube sucks...But you have to understand that the Reason people Newb Tube is to counter the built in Defects with the game...I have no problem getting rid of the Newb Tubes...Just fix the other problems first.

Before everyone starts B!tching let me point something out before you get your panties in a wad...I never ONCE said take the Tube tube away...This threads purpose isn't to SAY TAKE THE NEWB TUBE OUT...this thread is just my insight on to WHY people newb tube. Not IF the Newb tube should be removed...So sit back, relax...and Listen to what is writen.

You were doing good until you posted your stats for merit as if anyone gives a damn...

But. You're right. The "Noob-Tube" takes away all chances for the OpFor to fight back. Personally, I prefer the OpFor to NOT fight back, that way I don't take damage, and I'm better prepared for the next task/enemy that comes before me.

All of your points are dead on as well. Bunny Hopping is pretty much the reason I resort the M203. I know with that weapon that I don't have to worry about my enemey doing a barrell roll in mid-air and pulling off a headshot. I just need to get mah' weapon within' the vicintity of his body and "Presto-Chango" he' down.

i agree with ur 1st 2 points but not ur 3rd, the accuracy is not that horrible, its easy enuf 2 kill some even on a large distance... yes BF2s hotboxs r not gr8 but at least evry1 has 2 deal with it, think bout it, if u have trouble hitting sum1 cos of hitboxs, so will the guy nxt 2 u... evry1s disadvantaged...

I hate the term n00b tube. I get killed by the grenade launcher here and there. its never to the point of what people claim on this forum. I have never thought to myself "DAMN those N00b Tubers!" I have been killed from time to time by the launcher and been ticked off, but mainly because I had a chance to get the guy first and he GL'd my ass before I could get him.

the weapon is in the game, might as well just bare with it. maybe they will change some aspects of how its used, and if they put a limit on bunny hopping then that will help for sure. In the end its a valid weapon for the assault class. it gives them an advantage that IMO is deserved since they are meant to be the assault, in the thick of the sh*t soldier.

It sucks that some of you have had a really hard time dealing with getting killed a lot by a certain weapon. IMO if I get killed, I can care less how it happened. I just respawn and get back into it. At the end of the day it is only a game. meant to be fun.

accuracy isn' that bad. it's actually better than CS accuracy. the accuracy is set to this to pervent people sniping with laser rifle accross a map.

Re: To Newb Tube or not to...that is the Question.

in addition, i wud like 2 say dat as with many games the original purpose of the nade launchers, meaning dealing splash damage 2 enemies behind cover and the like, has been substituted by it being used as a primary killing weapon for the assault class... (i admit its gr8 fun using it and its a helluva lot easier 2...) in way its there4 EAs fault (not dat i wanna blame em, theyve got enuf ppl crapping on deir heads already) dat the nade launchers is being used de way it is, they shud have made it different, e.g. more splash damage, nades only arning themselves after 5 meters in flight, greater blast radius, dat kinda thing... so for now, were just gonna have 2 deal with n00b t00bers,3 just as we have 2 deal with a tank being 1 helluva powerful force on the battlefield...

I havent had a problem with the noob toobs until today. I must have taken a 203 from 3 feet away at least 10 times in an hour. That can get a little frustrating. I simply want to see the 203 have a minimum detonating range. I dont mind being killed from skilled shots....just when I'm 5 feet away does it get to me.

#2 is a valid point. M79-whoring in BFV was minimal. Why? Because I could fire a burst from a M16/AK-47 at you, and you'd be dead, real fast. Weapons in BF2 are harder to get kills with, so why is it surprising that people take the easy way (GL)?

For me the n00b tube is just plane old lame. It's like running around in Quake with the BFG, lame !! thats it period. At least ID games realised the error of there ways and allowed server admins to include the BFG on maps or not, 95% of servers removed it.

There's no honour in this game compared to quake, example draw your knife in Bf2 you get your arse n00b tubed, get your gauntlet out in quake you got yourself a glove fight. Honour amongst men.
