Some unranked servers have modified their files to allow use of some or all of the unlocked weapons. (typically they mention this somewhere in their server name)

These servers do not do so based on your rank or by ANY means...they simply allow anybody who joins to use them.

So you never need to play on a ranked server if you don't want to. In fact, the manual has a small blurb about this...something along the lines of 'ranked servers are designed for more competitive players blah blah blah'.

Frustration, death, pain, suffering, bad attitudes from many players, lag, teamkills, disconnects.. And awesome teamplay, hardcore firefights.. sometimes.

If you want to learn to fly, create a local game in the multiplayer options and pick a map like gulf of oman 64 player. Then run around that map on your own with all the hard to fly stuff for you to use and no one to annoy while you crash
