I think the hate and vitriol against EA is overdone. Yes - they promised more than they delivered. Yes - the expansion pack is pricey for 8 more maps and a few toys and uniforms. Yes - many people experience technical problems. Yes - EA is a poor communicator and proper support seems to be lacking. But hey - BF2 is a fantastic game, my personal all time favorite, and BF2: SF has some great maps. If you don't like it - don't buy it. But give credit where credit is due.

Give Credit too Dice for BF2 not EA, EA is why Dice had too rush it out.

Look at other EA published titles:-

Need for Speed Underground - incomplete and terribly coded.

The Sims 2 - incomplete and terribly coded.

The list goes on and its not the devlopers that cause this its the publisher forcing them to rush stuff out and the publisher is EA.

It's nut just with EA. Almost every game I like I see the community complaining. Before Battlefield I played Ghost Recon all the time. Brilliant game! But then they start about UbiSoft, complaining, complaining untill your asking, "why play that game if you only complain?".

If you really hate EA, even if it's a Dice product, why play BF2. Why bother if you post complains about the game, like its the wordt, playing it?
Download free demo to check things out, read magazines, etc. For me at this time there is absolutely no game that can give me entertainment of BF2. And then again most works fine here

In all probability, the vast majority of gamers don't visit forums, whine incessantly about developers, or complain to publishers. Rather than "everyone" hating EA, I suggest approximately 1% of customers "hate EA"...

And the ones that don't visit forums or frequent a community server are the 12 year olds that begged their parents for the game when they saw it in Gamestop while they were left there while their parents shopped. They wouldn't know the difference in a good game or not, they probably don't play the game long anyway. I don't think you're quite giving the BF2 community credit.

Is not EA's fault we don't all have 7800 GTX SLI AMD dual machines. EA and dice told everyone you need a GOOD machine to play BF2 on high. BF2 has probably caused more upgrades than DOOM3 or HL2.

I used to work in the games industry 1994-2000, and at that time the whole thing bar a few exceptions was run by cowboys. People who worked on the games never got profits only the people who owned the companies. EA , Activision , Namco etc etc etc grew big thanks to console and PC titles. EA has done things in the past to Pi** people off. But with BF2, if they were the ar**holes everyone says they are, we would be charged £20 a month to play online!

BF2 costs £30, you can then play for 2000 hours for free, bar the need to pay your ISP and possibly upgrade your RAM and PC.

EA also do dish out shares to employees and are like all BIG companies/corporates, they are not innocent. But so far I have never ever bought a duff EA game.

Everyone heres whines about paying for SF, to be honest if you can find me a game you play for 2000 hours for £30 and is as perfectly balanced as BF2 then please tell me!!!! I played CS from it's second version then moved to HL2 + CS:source and Joint Ops, BF2 is pure joy and is the best game I have played yet on a PC, I've been playign online since doom 2.

I also like the fact EA are checking scores. That must cost them money (salaried staff?)to make sure the cheats are being caught and they are not passing the costs to us.

I have never worked directly for EA, so I am a third party but I do know people who have worked for them/work for them. And they all get paid! And in the games industry getting paid on time is one of the key things!!! If you want royaties then make you own game and publish it on the web! (aka POSTAL!).

As for buggy, If you do a clean install of XP SP2, then install mouse/keyboard/sound card and GFX (latest drivers), then install BF2 it seems to work with no bugs. Bugs are mainly people running the game on PC's with 100 other programmes installed and not having the latest drivers and patches. There are billions of combinations of hardware and software on a PC. If you run a game you play like BF2, do a clean install on a new HD. The biggest real BUG was the SF version from EA was bugged.

Because they operate and manage for greed and greed alone, with no intention of what's best for the customer.
The don't care about gamers having fun, but know what gamers want and use that as an advantage to sell their product in such a way where they can make the most profit.

EA is great at marketing, but fails at humanity.

My sentiments EXACTLY! I mean this labor camp company enlsaves it's employees like they do and they can't gives us a working game? BF2 needs all these patches (which is bad enough you have to buy a game, then patch it ) and hell, I got a pretty decent system and BF@ still lags and tears like a mutha.

Look at rockstargames and the games they publish? Look at Sierra and there games like half life 2 and Cs Source? Look at Activision and games like Doom 3 or Quake?

They ALL work properly on the day of release and why? They value there reputation as a publisher and allow there software writers the time to release there games when there actually finished.

And EA owns more than 60% of DICE, so DICE might as well not even have their name anymore. EA is the controlling interest in DICE, EA can be held responsible for the bugs because of the demands forced upon DICE to make the game the way they want it (whether they can or cannot code their way out of a paper bag).

A correction, if you own 50.1% or more of a companies shares you own the company, therefore ea own dice.

In your wet dreams. Those games had the same amount of problems. I can give you hundreds of examples if I wanted, but I can't be asked. Just think of the problems GTA had on the start, game didn't even start on some PC's, terrible framedrops. It got patched after 2 months. Half Life and it's Steam problems when it got released, people bought the game but had to wait 4 days to be able to finally play it. And ofcourse the most recent Call of Duty 2, the community will even boycot the game, because it has so many issues which don't get fixed (http://www.iwnation.com/Forums/index...owtopic=17450).

Forget about it, go look into the history of games of those releasers and you will find out they got the same amount of problems, perhaps even more.

I've played a couple rounds of BF2, I like it. EA doesn't effect my life one way or the other, so I don't have an opinion about them good or bad.

In correct, i can give you basically every technical fix for GTA SA if you really want me to, most of it was because people were running other programs for instance windowblinds in the background while trying to play, there were hardly any bugs with the game most of them were incorrect drivers or third party software that didn't need to be running interfering with the game, there were a few bugs yes but the high percentage were fixed by new drivers or by changing some settings on the computer or turning off an third party application.
