Well to address two things, first about the phone lines in india, the specialty team i purchased under is exclusive to the United States only, so no bad accents for me. Also that warranty definately aint the standard warranty to address Capt. I paid extra for the complete care warranty and Total satisfaction so basically anything that needs some help with i can get. I did read the Complete care license agreement and i must admit its limited a little bit but everything that isn't in that is in the Total Satisfaction. I know a couple out guys who traded in their monitor because of stuck pixel. I would too, but most comapanies will not because they say that they cannot gurantee a better one. But Dell atleast gives it a shot and in most cases they get one nice looking monitor back.

Yeah i haven't added another gig or RAM, haven't needed to yet. Also your right im not expecting this pc to run on high forever. I just have noticed that a computer with the same specs but isn't a xps doesn't run as good. Its like a secret ingrediant on the KFC chikcen y'know? I remember opening it up and looking inside and heard..."$3000 for that?" I started laughing. Anyways this computers got a pretty large hard drive area. It can hold 1.2 terabytes.

Not true. The XPS order might have been. But DELLs tech support (XPS included) is not exlusive to the US. None of them are. Have an old friend that works for DELL. If the sales rep you purchased the computer from stated that... they lied to you.

I simply meant that 4 years of tech support for a computer is a bit much especially when DELL's warantly is voided so easily (For example adding a new graphics card to keep up with changing times). I technically voided mine with the addition of the RAM.

There is no "special sauce" in computers. Not sure if I understand you and am adding to what you meant. Our computers are similiar (with exception of additional ram i bought) But if I took it out and we benchmarked them... I am pretty sure they would be the same stats as the parts of the whole are the same.... they did not tweak yours any differently or optimize any software that would make your faster.

I am not bashing your system at all. So dont feel that. I am just telling the original poster that asked about the XPS that he can get the same performance for cheaper. If I had the money at the time I might have bought the XPS too, I simply didnt and the rebates and coupons were for the DELL 8400 series.

First the Complete care is not necessarily a warranty, its similar, but not exactly the same. I can replace specific parts that need changed, not necessarily the whole thing if you understand. Its really good when it comes to monitors because a 20.1 LCD ain't cheap and LCDs have been known to go bad quickly and to have that security really helps. They would not send me the new monitor because i added RAM, infact i would really want to know how you got that...does your friend work for XPS? They are completley different than "Dell" infact there is no support sections for XPS online and the reps from Dell always have to redirect you because they dont know specifics for a system they're not designed to support. Also there are differences in the way a XPS operates than from a standard computer. They dont have a specialty team just because you spent a lot of money, but because the XPS is really a growing experiment from Dell and requires special attention. I mean if you have some beef with XPS thats fine and i cannot convince you otherwise but ok. I believe there is a difference, you should read a review. **Not meant in a snobby, bratty tone**

Also this is not entirely accurate. Some applications run better than others, not because of your particular system but because of the coding in the program. One person can code a application in 6 pages that another could code in 1. Remember that the XPS is not nearly just hardware but an entire system espcially made to run fastest with other compatable components. Its designed because it is in corporate bond with other companies such as Sonic or nVidia, creative and others. The computer and the other companies come together to figure out the best way to code and manipulate the system to run best on their own particular hardware. Alienware is in alliance with many of these companies as well. Now i know there aint no secret sauce but hopefully now you understand my statement.

The first PC I built was a IBM compatable 486. Computers were very complicated and convoluted to assemble back then. (circa 1993) You had jumpers for everything, IRQ's to set etc. It was a real challenge! It's a friggin piece of cake now. Google "Build your own PC" a 4th grader could put together a PC now a days..
I laugh all the way to the bank when I compare my self built pc benchmarks to Alienware, FalconPC etc. You just cant beat buying cheap/high quality hardware and putting it all together and watching it run like butta. Hound Dawg you keep believing in secret sauce.

LOL i hope you know im not dellusional. Seriously i understand that of course they rip ya off a couple of g's. It would be much cheaper building my onw pc, and there are some things that this has that built pcs dont but still is it worth the extra $2000? Probably not. Anyways, whats done is done, and XPS is not at all a bad product, infact its phenomenal. The question is whether its time and patience vs. money. Thats what it boils down too. If you're asking whether a XPS is a good system as a pc, its very very fast, reliable, and amazing.

How about an Opteron DC with SLI 7800GTX 512s + 4 gigs DDR400 + 3 WD Raptor 10,000 RPM in Raid 0+1.:

You have to have 4 disks for a 0+1 array... 2 disks to make a raid 0 array (twice), then both arrays into a raid 1 array...

You can do RAID 3 or 5 with 3 disks (or the other obscure ones you'll never find a controller for).

And technically, RAID 0 fails to meet the criteria for RAID... Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks, RAID 0 is not redundant.

But, to answer your other question... if you must go with an OEM box, I would recommend Dell... you tend to get more "bang for your buck". Also, Dell systems seem to handle gaming better than any of the other OEM rigs that I've seen, (could simply be because most people I know who own OEM rigs, own Dell.) The other reason why I recommend Dell is because they are more "upgradable" than some of the other OEM boxes out there. For example: extra RAM banks and support for aftermarket RAM seems to be better than other OEM PCs, extra PCI slots, and you can actually replace the CPU if the mobo will support upgrades.) My only harp against OEM boxes is that the powersupplies seem to be underpowered, and upgrades, add-ons (such as an video card upgrade) sometimes cause power issues due to the PSU not being able to supply the extra load.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300(one step below the XPS on the food chain) and I play Flight simulator 2004 and Battlefield II with no problems, but I am not able to run all sliders full power though. I am impressed with Dell products and I love my Inspiron!
