Something funny happent to me last night at the gator,we where heavy battling on the inside and suddenly a chopper was hovering outside on the planelift slaughtering everyone that spawned,i trew a flashbang at him,it exploded right next to him,he was so blinded that he didnt saw me running to the switch of the plane lift and when the lift went up it lifted the nose of his chopper and he went in a nice looping in the water and exploded :)

As MEC take the mobil AA through the village and then toward the beach so that you are up against the wall separating the village from the boat docks, nicely snuggled between two buildings for cover. From here you can kill the US helicopters and spawn camp the USS Essex middle flag killing whoever is in the AA or spawns to get in it. You can not see the ship through tthe fog, but if you shoot just below the flag distance indicator your hit icon will tell you when you are on target. I would also recommend being a squad leader or commander and having a crate nearby for repair/rearm.

Love this map!

When the MEC breakout goes bad though, it can be a pain to get in the Well Deck. It helps to bring the APC up in there because you pin the US team behind cover with your cannon, get good splash damage with the missile and pop some smoke to provide cover for your squad mates to get up the ladders. The inside ladders are generally less booby trapped than the end ones. Also, the left side has exploding barrels but the right doesnt. A good US chopper pilot can prevent the APC from getting close and will quickly chase down a transport hovering above the deck. Your best bet there is to hang wide around the outskirts of the map in the transport, come in low along the southwest side of the carrier and bellyflop it on the elevator platform to go for the southern hangar bay flag - which goes largely undefended. No matter how you get on the carrier, scatter to the winds and take flags out of sequence. Given the multiple levels to the place, the UAVs are largely ineffective in revealing your intended target.

one thing i havent seen mentioned here is to have the hind tv missile the essex gun as soon as it takes off. you then take the transport chopper straight at viewing deck, land it next to the radar and run inside. requires teamwork, but when my friends and i play this map it is always very close (each side wins 50% of time)

This is the kind of playing that drives me insane. People who cherry pick the teams when they spawn. This must be common practice as I see guys who have insane wins/losses ratio. The only way they could be pulling it off would be to play on Clan only servers or to see who the losing team is when they get on a server and make sure to switch to it. Gator sucks, but through adversity you become a better player. This strategy is tight, but it depends on having a decent team who can work together and follow directions. However I never advocate dumping a troop transport as it takes away from the team's ability to be mobile. I say get a good pilot , drop the troop load to follow the strategy described, but then have the pilot go back and collect the team members who can't/won't follow the strategy.

Since the patch, MEC has a very though time getting on board.

Yesterday I got 3 gold medals in a row, just by sitting in the AA on the Essex all the time

TV misile it's reach is shorter now since patch 1.2 , I sometimes could hit the essex just on lift of with it, but now the TV misile disapears just before reaching the essex.

havent played IG since 1.2, but I imagine it's extremely difficult to even get on the ship now. the new tv range is ~450m or so and IIRC it was like 370 to the viewing deck from the helo pad

just started a single player and the shot is still doable (even by a solo person) while not being exposed long enough for an AA lock by the essex

After the patch a few things need to be added to the strat. I played it the other day for about 5 rounds and the US team won every time by about 180-0. The Phalanx can shoot down the MEC chopper while it is on the heli pad making it virtually impossible to get off a TV missile.

First and foremost you need the AA to park itself on the beach and take out the Apache. Whoever is first or second on the map should not go for the attach chopper but should go for the APC. Take the APC out into the water and fire a TOW at the Phalanx to take it out. Once you take it out...tell your team to proceed as normal. It should be the APC's #1 priority to keep the Phalanx disabled. If not...you won't even get the chopper 15 feet off of the ground.

Its a great idea, but it's one ive tried in the past and it hasn't worked simply because people dont bother going along with it.
