    Re: Russian Weapons - Disappointment

I was disappointed the only new weapon was the RPG (which I love btw). The net result from the games I've been in is that everytime its a US or SASvs map everyone switches sides so they can play with the new weapons leaving unfair teams. It makes me a little irrate that pretty much every map now I find I have to switch sides to keep the game going.

They already have a game where you can choose what weapon and loadout you have, it's called Counter Strike. The whole purpose of having different weapons for the different classes has to do with balancing. If you want a game where you have the choise of what weapons you want to use, go play CS.

Being able to customize personal weapon loadout is a better, more enjoyable system. BF2 should have adopted it.

Like I said, they already have a game that allows you to do that, so if it's such a more enjoyable and better system then why are you not playing that instead of complaining about it here? BF2 is made the way it is to promote having to use a variaty of classes to occomplish an objective. It also stops any one class from being dominate. As someone stated before, imagine how many people would be running around with the support class and the M203 N00B Tube. Boy what a fun game that would make. :|:

Holy sh1t are you a troll.

We obviously wouldn't make the M203 available to the support class, now would we. But DICE could allow each player to select a combination of equipment from a pool, within reason.

BFV did this to a minor degree with alternate weapon loadouts. BF2 does it with unlocks, sorta, but I'd like to see the idea taken further. For example, why can't Assault troopers use the pump shotgun?

It's a good idea and allows for more personalization. Other games do a lot of things, but that doesn't preclude them from being included in BF2. In fact, it's thinking like yours that prevents many games from adopting fantastic and established gameplay elements, that could only serve to improve experience, out of nothing but pride.

Oh, I'm a troll? Whatever you say chief, at least I'm not whinning about not getting my way in a computer game.

                  Let's see. First it was
Being able to customize personal weapon loadout is a better, more enjoyable system.

They already allow you to choose different weapons for each class, you just have to work for them first. Just play the game the way it's supposed to be played. All the "EA should do this and DICE should do that" isn't going to make them change the way they designed the game. There are a lot more important issues they need to deal with before they even begin to think about something as trivial as weapon selection like the problems they are having with people not even being able to play the game since the new expantion and patch.

It's the same concept, but if you want to mince words just to avoid admitting that it's a good idea, super.

And DICE obviously isn't going to change anything, but that wasn't the issue at hand. The issue at hand was the suggestion being good, which it is, despite your attempts to deflect it with your "stop whining because new ideas hurt my brain" nonsense.

You reckon Ea would design more weapons in a upcoming patch ? A chance to redeem themselves for rushing out a unfinished expansion - weapon wise.

At least they could have made the rebels have a lighter colour in their guns so they look different...

EX: snipers could choose either SVD,M24,ecc...depending on preference and deployment.
What about if I wanna be Special Ops,but I wanna use a shotgun instead M4 because in Karkand I like it better but dont want to give up c4?
AT with M16,Engineers with DAO,medics with SCAR..and so on.....

                        BAD idea?
You don't see anything wrong with the idea of giving the AT class a AK-101?

Imagine the possibilities of C4 + Ak101+GL. Not cheap at all.

The counter-recoil gun would be a bad idea in this game. Dice would either

                          a) make it very weak to balance out super accuracy.
                          b) make it only a tad more accurate and people would complain how it isn't like in real life and then someone else would say "this is an arcade game noob" and so on.

That would be insane, even more so for AT with m16. Long range tankbusting and anti infantry, now THATs throwing game balance out the window.

Although I do have to admit I wouldn't mind eliminating classes and have everything (or most everything) either a primary rifle, pistol, or attachment(s).

                              Re: Russian Weapons - Disappointment

If you think we are disappointed with the russian guns, imagine the insurgents in iraq!

                              just kidding, kinda...

I think the weapomn selection/assignment sytem we have is a poor representation of the modern battlefield. The system being used is the same system as bf1942 it was designed to represent soldiers fighting conventional battles in world war 2, its realy great for that. The different types of WW2 era infantry squad are all represented. This allows players to make assualt support anti tank or whatever kind of squad you might find on the battlefield of WW2.

Though these types of squads are still found in modern armys they are not in insurgent forces and special forces. In these 'specops' or covert types of combat units the soldiers are elite or at least expected to fight with a higher level of independance from regular army units. The soldiers, selected eather by a command structure or the theory of evolution of the streets of bahgdad, have many skills, the teams members are responsible for deciding what gun to carry in to combat depending on what their experiance tells them they may need.

I would like to see a system that seems more true to, and adds to the realism of, the battles being depicted in the game we are playing.

The insurgents/rebels should be able to select a wider range of weapons for each kit, such as a medic or assualt with a dao-12 if he has that unlock. Playing as the special forces I should be able to pick my weapon in the same way as the insurgents, with less restrictions then the regular armys. If a british SAS medic requests a full auto g36 instead of one limited to 3 round burst I suspect he would have no problem getting it (dont mistake though, that 3 round burst g36 is freakin sweeet!).

I think the sniper rifle and the grenade launcher should be exceptions. From what I know both from competative shooting (briefly in highschool) and from Mail Call and other military shows on tv is that sniping is as much about the training as the weapon. A snipers accuracy isnt in the gun, though he needs a precise weapon and ammunition to do his thing. As for the grenade launcher, sure in real life an army would love to have its soldiers be able to just noob tube the enemy into giving up, that sucks for a game. The noob tuber should get no kit, no grapple, hell why a knife? the grenade launcher should have to fight in diapers with pacifier in his mouth. grenade launcher as main weapon and a teddy bear or rubber ducky as backup...

And yes they selected some of the less intresting russian made weapons from what is available. I think they need to add a weapon to assualt on the russian/rebel/insurgent side. The scar-h is so nice on the seals side, something like that for the ak users please. The 94 with 2 round burst would be a good choice, or just a good scope for close-medium range combat on the ak-101.

What I realy would have liked to see, rather then the nearly identical rebel forces and insurgents, is a mercinary force with all the guns money can buy... i.e. anything that would fit well in the game. there could be columbian drug lord mercs or congo blood diamond mercs or whatever. The insurgents and the rebels are the same except for skins, its a cheap way to add two 'new' teams to the game...

ok im done gota play now...
