I think some of you people that wanted to skip the intro movies made it too complicated. It is easer just to create a file folder inside of the Movies file folder. Call the file folder what ever you want, boring movies, intros, whatever (I called mine Temp). Then drag and drop the Bik files you don't want playing into that folder you just created. This will prevent the program from finding the files since the program is pointing for a specific file location. This way you don't have to rename file or make backups of any files since they are just being moved to another file folder within the Movie folder.

hitting escape does not give you the memory savings from not loading the movies at all . . .
I myself do not like 'delting files'
rename each file anyway you want
eg name.bik=name1.bik or name.bik1

I also got some pretty good speed improvements by disabling my Symantec's Real Time Virus Protection before starting the game.

The folder rename suggestion is great!

Did you mean the opposite of what you said? Whether you rename the files or delete the, either way the PC won't find them, and therefore they won't affect RAM?

Or are you talking about HD space?

dont delete them all, just change the bik files, add a ky to the end of it to make bikky, but dont change the welcome one as i think you need that file intact, by doing this you dont delete them all, just incase you will need them in future??? you never know eh????do exactly the same with bf2 folder, it saves a lot of memory, and quicker loading at startup!!!!!

Yeah that's what I did. Not so much for the loading but so that I can still get em back if I ever want to.

i would say disabling virus protection was the 1st thing to do, never keep a checker running, causes lagg my friend!!

Simply appending "+restart 1" to the shortcut causes the intro movies to be skipped in vBF2. This doesn't work with BF2:SF?

FYI all, I tried just renaming the folder MOVIES to MOVIESOLD, and created a blank MOVIES folder. Game ran fine, but there was still a pause. But probb my old pc.

If you read your BF2 manusl you'll see that EA suggest that you turn virus-checker off during the game.

I just deleted them. Saved a little space and the game starts much much faster. Pressing esc to skip the movies is still waaaayy too slow. They can safely be deleted. Patches and such do not care if they exist at all.
