Dammit!! Being a squad leader DOESNT mean you always need to lead!!

Im getting tired of this. More than half the time I join a squad I become leader. I noticed that the order from top to bottom of a squad depends on your points and the leader being the one that started the squad. During game play I normally have within the top few points on the team so Im always high on the squad list. Then people always leave squad and rejoin so that I become squad leader. No one seems to want to lead. This then makes me squad leader, which sometimes I enjoy but sometimes I don't want the leader hassle. Then after I become leader they start to say "requesting orders". Dammit if I always wanted to be leader I would start my own squad. Do not leave and rejoin squad so that the next person becomes leader!!!!

ehehe...i understand what are you talking about.
they do that because they want an extra spawn point...
i personally dont care if im the leader or not, i just want to be in a good squad....(i always avoid squads where the leader is a sniper, nothing against snipers but most of the time they are far from the action)

and that happens to me often....ppl leave and join the squad or dunno why i become the leader, in this case i just carry my leader duties...anyway most of the time they will not obey the others....lol

Wow. First time I've seen someone complain about becoming a squad leader.

As to your...problem...I suggest patience and understanding. Not everyone is cut out to be a leader, and some just don't want the responsibility. It seems that other players have a high regard for you and want you to lead them. If you don't want the position, just say so. Try and talk things out.

have you thought about that the leader leaves the squad and the one who becomes leader then doesn't want to be the leader... and so on.

          I know the feeling

I was playing sf last night and man no one wanted to be commander!

So i finally took the job and boy did I have a nice team those guys listened and and communicated. They were on top of it!!

But it turned out that I had to be commander almost every round becasue no one wanted to be it or the guy who was commander stunk. And we would lose.

          That kinda got old.

I agree it is a bit anoyying when you dont want to be squad leader, when it happens to me i just give them one order which keeps them happy for a while. :)

What annoys me the most are stupid squad leader who 1) sit in a tank/plane/helicopter thats full and you can't spawn, and they refuse to give someoen else position to give you an actual spawn point

Re: Dammit!! Being a squad leader DOESNT mean you always need to lead!!

I end up being Squad leader alot, but I don't mind it. The main thing thats helpt me be a squad leader is having the secondary com on the mouse as the thumb button. So i can point at a flag and go attack here with out ever having to look at the map. It means I can lead on the go, even when I'm in armour or helicopter. So for me there is little difference, and especially since I end up in a APC most of the time I like being a squad leader to call down my supplies, which I can call down with out ever having to check the map or move my hands, just point and click.

You also should get used to using your squad members as forward troops, litterally a meat sheild. So that if they die you can fall back and they can spawn on you close to the action. if they kill something then you know its safe to move forward probably.

Also being a medic is good for a squad leader, hang back heal, revive, shoot a bit, and lead, thats what I do alot of the time and I love every second of it.

dont really need a squad leader cos everyone should know what to do most of the time....but when you die leave join the sqaud and spawn in the action with the new squad leader. If everyone in the squad does that you always have a mobile spawn point right into the action :)

Even when I join a full squad, I somehow end up as leader. They don't say it, but no matter how much i quit the position they make me it again; so I guess they want me as leader, I dont know, I dont die much anymore, so I last about 3 - 5 times longer than my squadmates.

That meatshield comment is funny, I use that little tactic a lot

Hang back and pound snipers/spec ops with pkm so my grunts can go about taking out AT men.

a squad leader is nothing more than a mobile spawn point. communicating on TS, then leaving the squad until the one that's alive at your objective is leader. Then the rest spawn back in on them.

We do this many many many times a round. Any time someone dies and we see that 1 person is alive in a good position, we will leave the squad until he's leader. Then spawn in on him and give reinforcements.

when you have team speak, that indeed is a very good tactic

Being the squad leader means you get the lowest score. Your supposed to hide behind the flag, defend your squad, out of site and stay there until your squad gets the flag. Yep it sounds boring, but this way they can spawn on you and keep trying. Thats what a good squad leader does. He plays medic/ support and stays well behind the frontline, just in a convinient place for his squad to respawn. Unfortunetly, you won't find a person like this too often.

I reckon that as SL you should get a point for teamwork when a squadmate caps a flag with you near. You know, so as to make being SL a more rewarding prospect. Or maybe get points after X times squadmates spawn on you or something.

Great idea...too bad it will probably never be put into the game
