it makes me laugh when some people come on here and blame the game and ****. The damned buggy game, F off EA! lmao its not even the game. and most likely EA has a contract with a DIFFERENT company for the servers. EA might not even be aware that there is a problem. It IS the weekend after all. The game itself has NOTHING to do with the server problems. funny how people like to blame the game though. If some people HATE EA so badly I find it strange how they continue to buy EA products. or continue to play a game that all they can do is complain about.

Don't know about you amish, but back in my net/eng days if one of my servers were down for almost 12 hours, I would have been fired. Hell I can unbox a spare, install OS, and pull the backup and go live in less than 4 hours.
You seem to make a lot of excuses for EA. Not saying that you work for them or anything, just sayin that you have been singing the same song all day.
Also for you to say that EA does not know about this is just crazy. Every co-location contract I have had to support ALWAYS had written in it how/when/where you inform the customer of an outage. ALWAYS.
Me, I plan on calling them on monday (650) 628-4322 to ask them for an explanation. I also am planning on calling NVIDIA as well. (I think one of the "valued partners" getting a little peeved might make them do something, and I want to make sure that they know what happened today.
12 hours is absolutely insane amount of time with no blurb from them as to what is going on. The longer they wait the worse the rumors will become. And right now it don't look good.
Right now if I had to make an educated guess I would say DOS, or some other type of attack, and EA is afraid to admit that there servers are vulnerable, or that they have been hacked and all the user data has been compromised.
My 2 cents on this whole debacle.

It's game spy that looks after the backend servers for EA which includes the login and stats side, Game spy do maintenance to the servers.
So I know its not monday just saying with proof it could be Game Spy problem to sort.Scheduled Maintenance

no I don't work for EA. I just don't jump on the EA hater band wagon every time something i don't like happens, even more so when its not EA that is causing the problem. It's the company running the servers.
also I have been on and playing with no problems since I posted that.
I played on three different servers for I think 6 rounds all together.Comment

Very strange issue, this.
I just tried to log in. 10 minutes at the account verification screen then it let me in. Check for servers and found only a single one... with a reported ping of 0, 40 players on, and no one listed below as actually playing.Comment

You're better off contacting IGN/Gamespy instead, I believe they are the ones who is responsibile for account and stat servers, not EA. Also, if you've been a long time BF2 player, you would know by now that these problems are actually "normal," usually happens once for every two months. Don't worry about your stats, it'll most likely be okay. The only time that player's stats were affected was probably 3-4 months ago when players between certain PID got hold of all the unlocked weapons, even with that nothing malicious has happened.Originally posted by servicepack1Comment

this has happened a few times b4.. ive been playing bf2 since release and believe me EA dont rush to fix it, and they certainly dont bother to notify anybody when the problem is fixed.. sites and forums like this are the only way ur gonna know its working again.
Everybody slagged off steam when Valve 1st released it,, but i can honestly say ive never had any probs with it so much as i have with EA's crap system.. it seems EA are too busy counting their money from big franchises to care about their customer relations. we'll probably get a post on the official site in 2-3 days explaining wot the problem was.. and prob not even an apology
all i can recommend to u guys is that u sit and wait. keep checking the forums for news of the servers being fixed.. dont bother re-installing the game or anything, because this problem is totally out of our handsComment
