And excuse me if I dont like a game because of graphics but I didnt spend $1500 on a new computer to play a game with 90's graphics.
Basically, the gameplay as a whole. How interactive everything is. Tanks run over trees, fences, etc. Buildings are destrtuctable. Firefights can be over huge distances or small within an urban city. Tanks engage targets from hunreds of meters away, as well as planes and helicopters. Maps are so big you don't need to worry really about going off of it with a plane, so they are more realsitic speeds. Weapons systems are more realsitic. Transport vehicles are actually needed. Blah blah bal. I can go on forever.

This screen kinda shows the engagment distances.

If you are that much of a guy for graphics over gameplay then this isn't for you. (No offense or anything) I am just saying that. I strongly perfer the gameplay of this over its graphics. Maybe you also don't like realism and such? At any rate, I pretty much KNOW I'm getting it.

I certainly would prefer the kind of gameplay as metioned above over an awesome looking game that is just boring. However, i do think AA has some pretty sweet graphics as well as great gameplay.

The Single Player campaigns in OFP are reason alone to buy the game. The story line is SUPERB. The enemy AI are also very intelligent. If you take out an lone enemy soldier on patrol, and another enemy squad finds the dead body, they spread out and search for you.

Not only that, the OFP modding community dishes out amazing work, still to this date. I agree that the stock models aren't great. But if you download the FFUR Replacement Pack, it replaces EVERYTHING in the game with the best community made addons. And I mean EVERYTHING is replaced. It makes things look alot better as well. Those with OFP on this forum, I strongly suggest giving it a try. Find it here:

I can't wait for Armed Assault.

lol I thought you were going to bring Crysis up. My point stands. The games are compleyly different. Crysis I doubt has the biggest maps. Levels on Farcry only let you have acces to some of the areas on the island each, and altgether the island still isn't as big as one map on OFP, not to mention ArmA. Arma is like a larger scale, alot more realistic version of BF2. Planes, tanks, helicopters, transport trucks, etc are all available for you to battle it out.

Its hard explaining it. Having played Farcry and OFP I know they can't even be compared really. Totally different.

if the game is as good as you make it sound crysis engine and all that stuff combined with ArmA could quite possibly be the best game ever created?

Pretty much. Hehe, Crysis will alone probably be one of the best ever created. Would be cool to see them combine though.

                  Re: Armed Assault News

Problem with crysis is this - I finished watching some tech demo's from the art director and my only concern is this. Farcry had a horrid netcode, Crysis has a fully destructable environment. Put these together and multiplayer sounds near impossible to achieve "lag-free". Probably explains why no multiplayer vid's have been made Crysis looks fan-freakin-tastic, but i wouldnt hold your breath waiting for it to be the next awesome online experience...

Armed assault on the other hand...

                    Re: Armed Assault News

Crytek has already made it clear that they gave the netcode a complete rewrite for Crysis. They admit the Farcry netcode was what ruined it from being the stellar online experience it should have been. So, heres hoping they got it right this time.

                      Re: Armed Assault News

Yeah - we've heard this story all before. Problem is from a coding perspective - with a destructable environment as detailed as what they have now, its the sheer connection strain of having an environment CONSTANTLY updating and changeing and being affected by each individual client that will make online somewhat of an issue (this has been discussed by others on the devteam i am on quite frequently). My guess is that offline will be breath taking but multiplayer will see most of the environment stripped of its "destructability" - this isn't to say it wouldn't be a good game without it but destructability would definitely be a plus you got used to

I will wait for a multiplayer demo/video to dispell these beliefs (still havent seen one)!

Yep. Just peruse through this thread and you'll see a bunch of screenshots and links to screenshots. If you've ever played Operation Flashpoint, then you'll have a good idea what this game will entail.

yes - with about half the survivability rate lol...

Yes, but like I said - Its a much larger and more realistic scale. Gameplay is nothing like that of BF2.
