Wow, you guys are right about the amount of skill n00b tubing takes

Today I was playing SF on warlord and half if not more of the enemy team was assualt. I kept getting killed by the grenade launcher. By the time my ratio was 6:13 I thought "It's obvious logical kit choice and tactics aren't going to work. Time to join the n00b tubers." I've used the n00b tube when I started playing but it was mostly for long range. This time, however, because it was a close quarters map, that was not the case. So I shut off all but my most primitive instincts and just hopped around with this thing. As I went I encounter quite a few enemies. Did they have the drop on me? Were they in a clever spot? Was I going where I should be? Were they making what would seem like better kit choices for the area they were in? Well, very little of that seemed to matter. Just point, click, boom. By the end of the round my K/D ratio was 23/21 (big improvement from 6:13). Later the GL whoring died down, and I think it was precisley because I had "given them a taste of their own medicine".

My point is I really hope we see some server banning n00b tubing or it fixed in the next patch. I don't look at it as an exploit, but it definatly destroys the gameplay. I didn't mind it in Vanilla BF2 because assualt was such a crappy kit otherwise and usually if half the team was assualt, they'd lose (even if they killed everything on foot). However, now that assualt is a decent kit it's becoming a huge problem.

I'll confess... the F2000 makes me wanna toob whore more. I'm SO pleased to have a kit that gives me good sights, good damge, and good accuracy while still being able to go fully auto AND flip out that noob toob.

BTW, flashbang coupled with the toob is deadly! I managed to flash a squad (5 guys together) and while they were blinded I put a single 'nade launcher round into the whole mess.

They weren't to thrilled with me.
      Ah well.

Complaining about the GL is getting kinda old. Every kit has something special about it, assault gets the GL, they are assaut, get over it.

The assualt gets the grappling hook, flash bangs, and the GL. If you think they were average/slightly overpowered in BF2 (note I say if) then basic logic will tell you they are WAY overpowered in SF.

I say it takes no skill to, i ADMIT (yes i have the guts to do this) that i have noobtoobed before. I used to noobtoob (actually i used the G3 a lot, but you get what i mean) a lot more though (hence assault is my favorite kit on stat sites). BUt nowadays, i only play assault if there's a whole bunch of enemys trying to spawnrape, if i'm really frustrated and my K ratio is horrible for the game (and so is the score), and if others keep on nooblaunching. Anyways, i play spec ops (with the G36C or the SCAR-L) or support (with pkm and unlimited nades) more often. It's so fun to see how inexperienced tank whores can be, they don't even look backwards when driving, a person spprinting is as fast as the tank can go, so immediatly when they stop, i jump, throw the C4 packs, and run, and KABOOM.

simple fix. Make you vulnerable to the blast radius.

Even better is an arming range, say 20-25 feet before the nade arms it self, so if they're at close range, it'll just bounce around instead of exploding on impact. If the blast radius was bigger, good noobnaders could take out even more people per nade. BTW, i agree, with the SF expansion, the assault really shines above all others. SPec ops has lost sheen as in the SF maps, the best vehicle is like a BMP3, and you can destroy that with only 2 RPG shots. And, the grapple hook is too goood, you could EASILY spawn rape with that thing. But i say SCAR-H>F2000, as SCAR-H does more damage, has a better scope, and of course, the SCAR series is one of my favorite guns in the real world.

FFS PEOPLE YOU ARE VULNERABLE TO THE BLAST RADIUS!!!

Have you people ever even PLAYED assault???

People who are good at the GL aim BEHIND the person they are shooting at to AVOID getting killed.

I am so frekkin sick of everyone proclaiming how easy it is to be assault....if it is that easy play for 10 rounds and then count how many first place finishes you get. Then play 10 rounds as medic, or in a tank, or as commander and see how many 1st place finishes you have.

People are frekkin whiners because they want to have all their little toys like C4 and medic packs and ultra-accurate unlocks and pwn everyone. Well I have news for you....ASSAULT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST DEADLY GROUND KIT.

Those kits you use FOR the purpose assault are SUPPOSED to be used for support roles, or blowing up the enemy arty, and setting booby traps....but YOU CHOOSE to use them as an "all purpose kit" which INCLUDES assaulting.....and then get owned. Well, it is you own dam fault for choosing the wrong kit of the job.

You can't have you cake and eat it too....I don't whine "OMG nooBer medic and his free heath!". Would I like to have unlimited heath, sure, but I have to give up other attributes to get this, which in certain situation may be the WRONG choice.

It you CHOOSE to be medic or spec-ops then you have to live with the consequences, YOU AREN'T GOING TO BE AS GOOD 1:1 with assault.........end of story.

Meh... I do think there's a balance issue here.
It IS annoying to be involved in a protracted firefight, being all sneaky, using cover, and getting into optimal firing position just to have it end with BANG, dead as some duffus nails you from 3 feet away with the GL.

There really should be a minimum arming distance.

Increasing splash damage or radius would make things WORSE. People, you really need to understand this before you continue to whine for it as a solution. It would ONLY mean that you would have to stand 6 feet back instead of 2 and you'd see A LOT more toob spamming.

Min arming range/delay is the way to go.

I have played as assualt if you were so courtious as to read my post. Where do you have any proof I was using the wrong kit? Yes Assualt is supposed to be the most deadly ground kit, but if it is also the only kit that takes no thinking to own with it, that's not balance. An engineer is supposed to be the most deadly kit when paired with a vehicle, but I still need to do things which are logical and cautious to stay alive.
