I disagree, the assault kit takes a LOT of thinking. This fantasy that the GL is a perfect weapon is totally false. In fact, it can be a hinderance in many situations.
Assault takes "thinking" because you have to know when to use the GL and when to use your rifle. I am CONSTANTLY switching between GL and rifle during various situations. If I just kept the GL selected all of the time I would get owned ALL THE TIME.
The proof is in the pudding, most people aren't assault and there is a reason. The class is as difficult to master as any, and just because in a FEW situations the GL is a great weapon over all using it properly and consistantly takes just as much skill as any other weapon.

omg stfu you noob complaining about the noob tube still. it is obvious that if u use it too much then your a noob and if u get pwned by it too much then you are also a noob. see it balances out just fine lol stupid noobs if you spent the same amount of time practicing as u did complaining about whores and how the game should be played and blah blah you might actually pwn some noobs yourself once in a while.

People who are good at the GL aim BEHIND the person they are shooting at to AVOID getting killed.
I am so frekkin sick of everyone proclaiming how easy it is to be assault....if it is that easy play for 10 rounds and then count how many first place finishes you get. Then play 10 rounds as medic, or in a tank, or as commander and see how many 1st place finishes you have.
People are frekkin whiners because they want to have all their little toys like C4 and medic packs and ultra-accurate unlocks and pwn everyone. Well I have news for you....ASSAULT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST DEADLY GROUND KIT.
Those kits you use FOR the purpose assault are SUPPOSED to be used for support roles, or blowing up the enemy arty, and setting booby traps....but YOU CHOOSE to use them as an "all purpose kit" which INCLUDES assaulting.....and then get owned. Well, it is you own dam fault for choosing the wrong kit of the job.
You can't have you cake and eat it too....I don't whine "OMG nooBer medic and his free heath!". Would I like to have unlimited heath, sure, but I have to give up other attributes to get this, which in certain situation may be the WRONG choice.
It you CHOOSE to be medic or spec-ops then you have to live with the consequences, YOU AREN'T GOING TO BE AS GOOD 1:1 with assault.........end of story.

Well here we go again! EA Im sure feels your pain. They think that they need to do something about the granade launcher. Thats why they added another granade launcher, and in doing so have sent the message...... Mooo Ha Ha Ha.... And you think they might change the Granade launchers? Instead of nerfing the thing they added another. At this rate, if you keep complaining, every rifle in the game will wind up with a granade launcher. So it seems to me the choice is clear either learn to defend against the GL or learn to use the GL because its gonna be around a long time, just like it is....Red

WTF , its a feckin weapon . Just cos ppl get owned by it they bleet like lambs to the slaughter. Hand grenades do the same but no one says WTF that guy is a "hand nad noober" if it keeps you and your squad alive then hey me n my squad are the ones moving to the next flag .

The splash damage just needs to be a lot bigger. At the moment very body can jump and shoot at his own feet and kill his opponent and take minimum damage. I admit I use it once in a while as well, but also admit it's a very lame way of playing. Just increase the effect for the player who is bunnyhopping and shooting, so he dies as well.

I am an occasional noob tuber myself. But I don't even like the F2000, long range and single fire I get better results with the M16's rifle component and the GL is equal anyhow.
First: There is a blast radius with the GLs. Everyone who says something else go try shooting a wall at close range. Everyone who says something else and pretends to be so l33t at the same time - shame on you.
Second: I agree that a fusing range might make sense. Most people on the public servers don't realize that a suicide means minus points, so a kill plus your own suicide nets: 0 points. Hence, most people kill at short range even if it kills them. A fuse range would help. But then the time to switch to rifle needs to be shorter. In reality one changes the grip on the rifle. In the game that time takes way to long. If switching between GL and rifle works quicker AND we get a fuse delay, people will stop running arround with the GL by default and only use it against groups and vehicles.
Third: At present, the GL is one, if not the, quickest way to make points as an assaulter (unless you drive a tank or APC). I try to get my expert assault badge and when I need 40 kills, I noob tube. Why settle for anything that gives me less score? The GL is built into the game and its there to be used. I don't whine when people kill me with the GL 10 times in a row and hence I say with confidence to all who it may concern: STOP WHINING! Feel free to express that its overpowered in your opinion, feel free to say that you want it nerfed, but again to whom it may concern: stop making up your own rules by claiming in the game that the GL is not to be used, stop telling me every 10 seconds how noob I am, stop kick-voting me for using the M203 or F2000 GL.
Fourth: The GL isn't all that overpowered. Yes, its one shot kill. But its limited to five ammo! On the public servers where I play (and where most casual players play) find an ammo pack some minutes into the game ... impossible. Hence, after five shots (thats maybe two kills for most casual players on public servers, its 3-5 kills for me) people are usually stuck with the rifle. I agree that this may not be an argument with well-organized squads or on private servers with TS but lets face it, good teamplay is a rare thing in most of BF2 world.
Fifth: It takes sh*tloads of skills to use the GL. Not to noob tube arround corners in karkand with the stupid UAV (now THATS something that should be nerfed), but long range fire is an art. It took me ages to get good enough with the FL to hit groups of people perfectly in the middle at long distance, or to hit a fast moving Vodnik that passes by high speed at medium range twice before its gone, or to down a helicopter by hitting it multiple times. These are things that I do with the GL all the time but only after having had 100+ hours as an assaulter and I think 40 of these with the GL.
And again, getting hit by a M203 in your fast moving jeep at 100 meters and then calling me a noob because you have no idea what hit you and the top left of the screen says "me [M203] you", thats pathetic. To whom it may concern.

My point is I really hope we see some server banning n00b tubing or it fixed in the next patch. I don't look at it as an exploit, but it definatly destroys the gameplay. I didn't mind it in Vanilla BF2 because assualt was such a crappy kit otherwise and usually if half the team was assualt, they'd lose (even if they killed everything on foot). However, now that assualt is a decent kit it's becoming a huge problem.
