can someone tell me the names of the files that belong in the default SF localization? cause I restored them from the recycle bin but now I got a bunch of localization files and I don't know where they go now

You did, bottom of page 2.
As for your question, I did not include this file because I did not alter it in any way. The file contains the text info for the autoplay splash screen, and the installation process. I saw no need to include the file as the one you have already in your directory should be the same exact file.
Salad may have a good reason to include the file however, maybe he could enlighten us when he get's a chance.

          For BF2:
          XPEnglish.utxt
          English_Patch.utxt
          English_autorun.utxt
          English.utxt
          english_mappacks.utxt

          SF:
          English_mappacks.utxt
          xpackEnglish.utxt
          xpackEnglish_autorun.utxt

Sorry if this has been answered but can you check with the major leagues (CAL and TWL manily) to see if this is O.K?

As far as I know, these changes do not conflict with any rules either of these two tournaments have set. Additionally, these changes are completely clientside, and thus would be impossible for someone else to actually check, short of having you take a screenshot.

However, if you can get me in contact with anyone from either league, I would be more than happy to discuss it with them and reach an agreement.

I downloaded salad's file for vanilla...is there anything I need to do for sf or do you not have one available?

BTW, they look great and I appreciate all the work you've done :) .

Great tweak SaladFork! Thanks for taking the time, and going through the effort to make this available to us :)

But I do have one small issue which I illustrate in the following Screenshot.

It looks similar on all my weapons in BFHQ - except for the second tier unlocks. Those still have their old names displaying.
Is this normal? If no, what can I do to fix this problem.
                        Thanks in Advance.

Alpha, apparently using color codes in weapon names (which is something found in Ring's files, not mine) makes you see that obnoxious color code in the BFHQ.

BTW, I was interviewed by BFPodcast about these localization files (tweek of the week, I believe). Be sure to check out Episode 9 when it's released. Also has a great interview with King_Dave, the project director of BF2RS.

Thanks for clearing this up so promptly Salad, I'm really enjoying this tweak.
I've only been trying it on LAN so far but in a few min. I'll be able to test it online, and won't have to search for the almost invisible names and kill messages. *g*

I have consumed all BFPodcast episodes with great pleasure so I for sure won't be missing out on episode 9

I installed your localization files will check with them in a moment.
Wasn't aware that there are two different versions floating around - downloaded both, but failed to interprete the naming right

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.3)

AlphaNut, as Salad mentioned, that is an unfortunate and unavoidable side effect of using the color code inside the 'kill message' string in the vanilla files. (The killmessage string also doubles as the 'weapon name' string in English.utxt apprently.) The files containing most of the 2nd tier unlocks used a seperate line for the 'weapon name' and 'kill message' allowing me to edit the killmessage only...which is why those weapon's names appear correctly. I put this as a known issue at the bottom of my readme.txt just FYI. Thanks for taking the time to check them out! Hope they can be of some use even with that minor visual flaw in BFHQ. :)

And Salad, I'll be looking foward to that podcast bud!

Hi RingMaster, I very much liked the colored weapon names showing up in game.
The color codes appearing in BFHQ weapons list isn't a real issue.
Indeed I should have read the readme.txt more carefully... I admit being a lazy bastid, and today I am lazy to a point where it's almost becoming unhealthy *g*
Thank you too for taking the time, and sharing this tweak with us. :)
