    Community Update!!! 11/30/05

    BF2 v1.12 Update
We at DICE and EA are committed to on-going support for Battlefield 2. We're pleased to see that so many of you are still playing the game on a regular basis and continue to support it and the community with some great mods and movies (We're big fans of the machinimas, so keep them coming guys, and MINE, you guys rock!).

We wanted to let you know that we're already hard at work on a post 1.12 update. While we can't go into details about it, yet, rest assured that we're checking the forums, listening to our customer support teams and working hard on the features that YOU'VE asked for. As soon as we can give more concrete details, we will. Just know that we're all 100% into making Battlefield 2 the very best that it can be.

Please god fix the instability of the overall game and optimize the code for better performance.

That and the tag bug would make me very happy anything else is just icing on the cake.

God I hope they realize that they need to fix what's broken first before they can add "enhancements".

See, look, they are trying to listen to you all, many of you think they have let BF2 die.

OK first request: make awards not time-dependant. For example veteran heli badge for 2500kills and expert for 10.000. THANK YOUUUU

Some new game modes would be nice. And it seems like they will most likely add an "objective" mode to SF because most of the maps have a objective based theme, story, or just seem like it should be objective style.

Works great on my PC (Aside from the occasional crash to desktop :) ). Love the game and the addon. Newer weapons for Spetznaz would have been better though. :)

Thank you for the update. I love the game, fantastic work. Just one request, can you make the servers searchable in-game by which version of BF2 (vanilla or the expansion), because I have to browse through tons of regular BF2 servers before I find a decent SF server. :/

I hate to say it but I'm afraid of all the requests people have. I hope the priorities are handled by the right people at EA/DICE because so many basic things need to be fixed before things like accents and how awards work should even be considered. I'm new to this community and have been preaching a lot about system optimization to people with less than up-to-par rigs, but even with all my optimization I suffer from base level bugs. Like:

My body fusing to the ground upon spawning. I've had to blow myself up a couple times in singleplayer because I couldn't move.

I hope that post 1.12 equals out the way SF handles the bf2 engine, makes use of the SF optimization cache, and finally makes at least some of the landscape destructible. I can't shoot through windows, knock down fences, and running a tank into a freestanding missle launcher stops the tank instead of knocking over the launcher.

I'm guilty too of wanting selfish things though. I'd really love for there to be a function within the game where you can disable unofficial mods so that you can enjoy the work of the Mod community while maintaining a clean BF2 to avoid Punkbuster server boots. And the BattleRecorder auto-closing when a battle is over would be great (in singleplayer).

And there might already be a way to do this, but ALLOWING mods on a LAN would be a dream come true. I love the merc mod and would love to play it on LAN. It appears by the EA/DICE announcement that they welcome modding, so making it hard to mod and enjoy server games should be implimented.

Anyway, I'm eagerly awaiting the new Catalyst drivers and post 1.12 update. And I'm not complaining about people's requests or anything, I'm just saying that everyone has their own ideas about what should be fixed, and judging by what most of you guys say about how they go for enhancements rather than fixes, I just hope that 1.12 doesn't replay history.

Just fix the freaking red/blue name tag bug! That's a major bug yet they haven't fixed that one yet? Why? It's so annoying.

Amen to that, that's so annoying, I've seen it in SF now too.
