Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
There really hasn't been a lot of "shelling the beaches" going on since WWII.
Actually, the USS Missouri (Iowa-class battleship, WWII vintage) was used in actual combat all the way up to Desert Storm. It was refitted with cruise missiles, but actually shelled targets with its 16" guns from time to time.
Oh yeah. And the reason why they haven't put subs on: me. I would totally pwn everything
In reality, I'd really like to see naval units in the game (BF2). I can't tell you the numerous hours of bliss I had on the subs and battleships of '42.
Granted there are reasons why this would not be practical, namely:
-Cruise missiles launched via submarine would complete own everything and have an absolute minimum chance of counterstrike.
-Exception to above: if the opposition had something similar to the Aegis anti-missile system and dipping-sonar capable helicopters.
-Surface ship launched cruise missiles would completely own everything and have a minimal chance of suffering a counterstrike.
-Exception to above: the Harpoon. Pure and simple.
Do you know of any mods that plan on this feature?
I'm following Shattered Faith most of all and it's not really real world so...
Nope. Im almost 100 % you wont see this anywhere in this game. It wasn't in the inital game so yeah. Im justing saying the closest thing to get a naval ship war or whatever is make a mod, eg edit the transport ships, even then its still hard.
That's true. I've seen people try to play "Pirates" with 'em. That's always funny and a sure sign that something is a naval vessel (reference to the piracy that occured in BF1942).
