What's the general consensus of the population?

I'm referring to the weapons obviously, and, I dunno about you lot, but I find myself more lethal with non-auto guns. Why? Good question, maybe it's because the fact I can't spray **** everywhere forces me to aim better? Maybe these guns are just straight up more powerful? Are they more accurate?

I haven't looked at the weapon logistics, and I don't give a flying monkey **** about it either, I want what people *feel* to be posted as replies. Do you FEEL that the m16a2 for medic is a better weapon than say.. the g36c or that m16 for assault is better than ak-101? Do you feel that the G36E is just plain old better than the G3? Or AK-47?

Personally the above points are true, these 3 shot rifles are more accurate, and more lethal than their full auto counterparts. Unless I'm circle-strafing I often kill opponents in just one good blast to the chest ( when in cc we're all subjected to lag of varying degrees, and while it might look like you blew his ass off, you may only hit him with 1 or 2 bullets, even on full auto). This is true with the m16, but more so with the G36E. Frankly I wish all the guns had options to go 3-shot burst as well as switch to semi, because, I cannot explain how but I just perform better with burst..

I switch constantly, depending on whether I'm attacking or defending, moving or hiding, rushing a flag or softening it, etc etc etc.

Do you just keep it on one setting?

Yea I pretty much keep it on one setting. I'm playing SF a lot now, and choosing medic more and more often in favour of their burst weapons (medic especially if I'm playing Seals, SAS or MEC) and although the MEC gun is the ak-47 I find it a superior rifle to the others in the team. Then again that's speculation, when I play medic I note I go slower, pick my targets more carefully, and surprise attack if at all possible... the idea of dying with 1 rifle round doesnt excite me too much and I'm more 'subtle' because of it.

That being said, I swear to god I'm never going to touch the l85a1 again, that thing is a dog turd and two thirds man, most inaccurate piece of shrew I ever done laid hands on and had the misfortune of shooting. When I play vanilla, I click that unlock button TWICE out of reflex baby, skip straight past that candy-ass rifle and onto something with more pep.

It may be burst, but I kicked more ass with it this last few weeks than I ever did with the l85a1. I pity those people still on vanilla, they miss all the fun.

I rarely use full auto, especially when using the Carbines like the M4 and AKS-74U - single-shot all the way.

I like the Burst of the G36E for mid-range engagements though.

I prefer single shot when out in the open, and I go to auto when inside in close quarters and happened to run into an opponent.

I absolutely HATE, HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE 3 shot burst mode - such a waste of my ammo and time. I put it on full auto and just do controlled shots.

I used to always leave on full auto and just control my shots in 1-2-3 shot bursts depending on what was needed for the situation.

I have found how accurate going to single shot really is though. Leaving in auto and just tapping a single shot, is not NEARLY as accurate as going to single shot mode. Does not make any sense to me at all.

BeerStein, in real life, fireing a weapon in single shot mode will be more accurate than fireing a single shot in full auto mode. Why you ask. The reason is that in order to keep the weapon from fireing more than one round the shooter must very quikly release the trigger. This degrades their accuracy. When fireing a well aimed single shot a soldier will slowly and evenly squeze the trigger, hold it for a moment, and then slowly release (slow is a reletive term here, the whole process takes less than a second). Just a guess here, but dice might be trying to recreate this by makeing auto less accurate reguardless of the number of rounds fired.

Auto for close range, semi for medium range to distance shots. I prefer single shots.

I run around in the auto/burst mode, just in case someone surprises me around a corner. . . and only go to single shot mode when I see someone in the distance that I want to "snipe."

Yeah single shot is useless in a situation like that.

Does the game take into account if you're in auto mode or not? Deviation wise and so on...

Don't know about deviation, but the gun is far less accurate when in Auto. If you try to snipe in auto - your bullets will go up, down, left, and right of target and occasionally hit - not saying firing with full on auto blazing - just pulling single shots while in auto mode.

Do you guys often use the iron sights? Honestly the more I play, the less I use iron sights, I think they're pretty much useless. To me, it feels indeed harder to aim, plus, you walk slower, your aiming takes longer, and it's not that much more accurate given the relatively minor zoom you gain.

I would have to agree with evilzucchini though, ironsights and single shot for long distance, although if last nights effort on devil's perch is any indication, I still kill more unzoomed and in burst... I was "sniping" with the m16 (in burst mode, unzoomed) doods that were at the light on that corner, when I was in the church tower. Now how about that?

For all you guys who only use auto I suggest go back to the basic weapons, and give them another try.

same, only a fool runs around in CQC in single shot.

btw I voted for burst and auto b/c I like em both.
