There's only so much control the player has over where the bullets actually go once they leave the barrel of the gun, and that's what's irritating. That, and the fact that a lot of the times the bullets seemingly go so far off from where they should makes me wonder just how far the deviation truly is. I mean standing with the barrel of your gun pressed into someone's back and squeezing off 12 rounds from an M16 before he even MOVES should be more than enough to kill him (an armoured soldier with full health only takes 5 rounds to the chest from the M16 to die). I know I was getting hits because the crosshairs were registering damage, but it's either deviation causing some of the bullets to exit the gun at 90 degree angles, or maybe a bug that if you fire too fast it doesn't register the second burst or something. Granted, at that time I was shooting from the hip so it wasn't very methodical, but there's no reason those bullets shouldn't have hit.

Other times I've gotten headshots on people standing on top of the TV station with my G3 while near the fence at the construction site using the single-shot, prone, ironsights method. I just wish there was a way to make it so that could happen consistantly by doing the same thing every time, but the randomness makes that impossible, no matter how much past experience you may have on the matter. That's what truly irritates me about the ballistics physics in BF2.

You are right - there is a degree of randomness that you simply cannot control. But you can manage the circumstances to reduce that chaos to its least disruptive level.

In another thread we officially renamed "aim" to "managing the stupid deviation system" for BF2. As such, BF2S.com should rename the "Accuracy" categories to "Success Managing the Stupid Deviation".

Overall, I'm at a 27% success rate in managing the deviation.

and just there you see how fast our brain calculates what the right decision is. its like doing a series of math problems. after doing a few, it becomes easier and will go faster. just because they are all the same. the brain becomes faster at making these decisions trough experience.

experience makes a good player, as in practices makes perfect

The brain isn't calculating (in a mathematical sense) the "right decision" at all. Subjects chose the first relevant solution that came to mind and tried it - and often the first choice, once applied, didn't work. So they adjusted accordingly.

Yeah, I agree with you 100% there. I guess I do okay with it because I'm usually relatively successful with the ARs and carbines in the game, but it's just a pity that luck is such a prominent factor in all of it. But I guess it makes it more balanced. Otherwise new players would get completely pounded on by more experienced and skilled players and it would probably prevent newbies from picking up the game. Less people == less sales == unhappy EA.

I've been using the PKM fairly extensivley recently and I must say I haven't noticed a difference. I've got pretty much the same kills with it as always.

It is a seriously under utilised weapon. However I do think they overheat a little too much. You can't really use them to set up bases of fire.

If you want to use it, I generally aim for the groin. That usually allows the best number of hits.

I've taken out two snipers in Karkand Mosque before. I was at the mosque flag, and the snipers were on the building watching it, by backyard. They both had M95's.

The PKM is wicked if used correctly.

The PKM was my second unlock and I still prefer the RPK-74. It just feels more effective, especially downrange.

                  Re: PKM accuracy!

Bah, I mean Mashtuur, not Karkand.

I didn't play with the RPK much, I found it too innacurate. I was probably trying to use it like the AK, but whatever rotates your beacon.

I'll have to grab one and see how it plays.

Wasn't impressed with the G36M when I grabbed one off a fallen SF player.

Close your flapping gums and don't ever open them again, you degenerate piece of cr@p.

He's explaining the difference and participating in meaningful discussion. If your primitive cro-magnon mind can't wrap around that or this insult, go do the world a favour and walk up a railroad and play chicken with a train.

I would sooo like to know what DP sent.

Does anything get the impression that those rolleyes and smiles coming from DP or any other mods are like a death sign?
