Well PS3 comes out in JPN in Feb. of 06, and gosh knows when in america, so i'd say get the PC upgrades (even though the one you have now is ni ce! ) and then when the PS3 comes out you'll prob have the money back (my guess), but yeah, PS3 is gonna rule, it shall smite all Xbox360 fans to dust! And PS3 isn't for just for friends comin over, for example, Killzone PS3 is gonna be online:p :p :p That game looks sweet.... the computer I have now is crap, and my dad prob won't let me get a new one soon cause he just got me this one lst christmas without telling me (he know nothing about computers) So I might get a PS3

Ok, thanks for all your feedback. I've decided I'm going for the PC. I'd feel like such an idiot buying a console when I'd have all that next gen graphics technology available to me on the PC. Here's what I'm going to build:

Gigabyte mobo with 2000 Mhz FSB (haven't decided which model)
2 7800 GTX with SLI
2 WD Raptor 10,000 RPM hard drives
Athlon X2 dual core
2 GB of RAM

I priced this all out yesterday. I think I'm going to have to do this before my wife and I have a kid, because she'll never let me buy a computer again after that happens. I think this setup will keep me in games for the next few years, and I will be able to update GPU's if I want to. Right now, my current mobo is AGP only, so I can't really go out and get a 7800.

I've heard you can get a better deal going with a single AMD 64bit processor that will cost about the same (or less) and run faster than the dual cores. You might want to do some research into that, if it turns out to be true you could save some money. Whatever you do choose that's going to be a godly machine.

For that setup, DFI is currently making the "the one to beat" as far as current SLI motherboards go. I've never used a DFI board before, so this is not a personal recommendation; it's just what is "hot" in all the tech enthusiast forums I visit.

No way. I've made up my mind. I'm getting a new PC. (My current system's name is Killer, so the new one I'll refer to as Killer v2.0.) It's not exactly accurate to think that an XBox 360 or PS3 is only going to cost you a few hundred bucks. To fully take advantage of the graphics, you will need an HDTV. Here in America, most people don't have those yet, and as a long time gamer, I would not want to buy one of those systems if I had to play it on my crappy TV, and I don't have $2,000 to spend on a new one. Plus, the games are going to be around $60, and you'll probably have to buy peripherals. PLUS, if I bought a PS3, I would be kicking myself down the road when I see what the future PC games look like.

Killer v2.0 is the last upgrade I'm probably going to have to do for awhile. I'll most likely be able to skip a whole generation of video cards because I want to get an SLI setup. I ONLY use Nvidia in my PCs, and their release cycles have been slowing down a lot, so I figure it will probably be 2 or even 3 years before I'd even want to start thinking about a new GPU.

I'll never be able to get rid of the need for PC gaming. It's just too much fun, and in a while, after all the console hype has died down, I'll be sitting here by the warm glow of Killer 2 and laughing because I've had optimal gaming available the whole time. Yes, I'm going to pay a lot of money for this machine. I'm having to sell stuff to pay for it. Most of the funding will come from selling Killer 1!! But that's ok. I've played my cards right all along, and now I can sell old computer stuff to buy new computer stuff, when I throw my Xmas money in, this new machine isn't going to cost me a dime. Plus, it will handle my wife's Word documents really well.

They should, i'm tired of the xbox360 here with no competition. I mean all i hear now is... i'm getting the xbox360 blah blah, never once! do i hear, what games are you getting? It's so f*cking annoying, people are just getting it because other people are.

I'm going to get the 256 models. I looked on NewEgg and the 512's were around 700 bucks!! Do you know of a cheaper one anywhere?
