I am having a problem with my VOIP since I installed 1.12. My microphone works fine in windows, but when I open the audio controls or try to join a server, my microphone suddenly cuts out.

I have Uninstalled and reinstalled BF2 and the patch.
I have Cleaned out my drivers using Driver cleaner, and Reinstalled with the newest versions.


Has anyone else expieranced this problem? Does anyone else have any other suggestions.
My specs
3.0 ghz P4
1gb PC3200 Ram (2x512
ATI X600 video card.
Soundblaster Liv! 24-bit 5.1
250gb SATA hdd.

I am experiencing problems as well. Mine is detected in Windows, and also in the VoIP test in the root BF2 folder but not in-game. I am going to try a bunch of things, and hope it works, I will report back if I find anything otherwise I encourage anyone to go ahead and post a solution if you find one.

I'm going to try and clear the cache and see if that works.

I have never been able to full figure out how to get VOIP working consistently and reliably.

I'd love to hear of a 'final fix'.

I'm using USB headset/mic though.

I found out something interesting about my VOIP problem, it seems that every time I Join OR quit a server, my Mic is automatically switched off in my sound control panel. I'm going to try to download the soundblaster control panel and use that and see how it works. Very odd indeed.

I had problems with my mic never working right in voip until I updated to the latest mobo drivers. I'm using onboard sound. now it works fine.

I had that problem. It was whenever I joined or left a game Windows would mute my mic so I had to alt tab or whatever... I just updated my Realtek97' audio drivers.

wen it happens do alt+tab and make sure its not set to mute as my game sometimes does that

I'm expericence the same problem as you do. I've updated everything on my laptop but I'm still can't use the VOIP options.

You need to use the primary mic jack on your machine because EA doesn't allow you to use a secondary mic jack, that fixed my problems.

hmm, I'm using the only mic jack on my sound card....that is unless you mean my Onboard sound card mic jack....which I'd rather Alt-Tab every game then go back to that.

Does anyone see the bar turn green when you start the mic test? When I click on it, It's only pause for a second and I'm able to hear myself for that one second. Then it's doesn't do anything after that.

Me 2....I am using a Audigy2ZS Platinum that works fine in every other app. It also works in the in-game mic test, but not IN-GAME. I am also running ventrilo, but not during the game. Wanted to use the voip becasue its easier when switching game to game , or squad to squad.
