    Re: N00b t00bing ethics

I have never had the noob toob experience. I play a lot of assault and eng. and sure I have been killed by it but not to the extent that some of you claim. I have never been killed by it so much in one game that I would react the way a lot of you do. I think the biggest problem with it is created on these forums with all the crying about it.

I love the new medic gun -- blows away the L85A1 for accuracy and the burst is very useful in CQC (2 bursts to the chest will kill anyone).

I wasn't a fan of the support gun -- honestly I like the PKM better.

Well 5 minutes into the round I tried that gun last night -- managed to single-handedly cap an MEC flag (Mosque on Mashtuur) and kill about 7 guys in the process. After that flag I was about 20 points ahead of the next highest guy on my team.

Heaven forbid you GL noobs might actually have to aim to get a kill.

I'm with XoX1de. You shouldn't be able to use a GL as your primary weapon. I've seen it used reasonably well like when a person hides behind a corner or ducks into a room and the other person fires the M203 in there rather than chasing them in. Limiting them would force you to conserve them more and use them effectively rather than bunnyhopping and spamming them.

man these threads are getting old...

As far as skillless / etc... I tell ya what, stand 100m from me, fire your M16 once, and I'll fire my m203/gp30/f2000GL once and we'll see who's still alive. I won't need a 2nd shot to determine range, 1 will do it.

As far as using it for 1 guy at a shorter distance, it happens, and not for the reasons you always think. If I'm using the 203, I'm using it, period. If I cap a flag on Sharqi and am moving to the next flag, the 203 will be out still. If I come around a corner and your there, guess what, I'll pop the 203 off the wall and take you out hella faster than your rifle. And I'll do it in such a way that you die and I don't.

I'm not one of those guys that shoots at the floor and dies along with u. Last time I checked it did my score and my teams score better if I lived through the exchange.

If you prefer, next time I come around the corner and come across someone I'll kindly ask them to wait while I switch from the 203 to the rifle. Of course, since you all hate noob tubes I'm sure you'll be more the happy to wait untill I have my weapon out before we begin our gunfight. Wait, that's not how it works? :)

The game is about survival, helping your team, and killing the enemy. I find a one shot kill vs. anything else to be the smart choice.

Oh, and for the love of god, don't ever consider playing this game competitively if you're one of these noob tube haters. Every match I've played in (and its been several already) is a mixture of AT sniping, nade launchers, and the occasional medic. Get over it, its part of the game. Perhaps you should try it once in a while.

As I said once before, most of the "I was _____ by ____" threads are started by people who've been pwnt by the _____ too many times. Save the crying for when you skin your knee playing with the neighbors, every tactic has a defense, learn that instead.

Don't you think that is quite unfair for the people you take down with your n00b t00b though?

They don't even stand a chance.

When I was playing with the n00b t00b, I was taking down everyone, the first time I played with it, I had 40 kills and like 11 deaths. I felt pretty bad because I knew I didn't give the people a chance.

It seems to me like you think it's fine to exploit something that shouldn't have been in the game if the developers thought about it a bit more.

The way you use it takes absolutely no skill and it is easy kills.

btw, the guys that call a n00b t00ber a guy that takes out an enemy and himself, is just a crappy n00b t00ber. I for example can take out an enemy with it and not even get a scratch, that is why I think it is an exploitive weapon and am asking for your opinions.

and also as I can recall, this thread was started by me. And the reason was because I was owning a little to much with it than a person should be able to with a weapon.

This is mainly why I use assault sometimes (that and the G3). I suck at AT, it is like it is somekind of curse or something, so assault with the NT is useful there and it is very satisfying to lob a couple of grenades into an attacked chopper...

Now I also find a good "assault" strategy for attacking a group (or flag) is to ready the launcher, charge around the corner and fire at the group and then switch straight to the regular gun to mow the survivors down. It actually works really well sometimes. Now if I ready the launcher and step around the corner and end up toe to toe with someone I am hardly going to say "oh, hang on a moment while I switch back to the regular gun!", no I am afraid you are going to get NT'ed. Sorry but better you than me...

I don't think I have ever killed myself with the NT though (the same can not be said for rockets or c4)...

Give people a chance??? To do what exactly??? Now I am not one to attack an uncappable spawn but I find pretty much everthing else to be fair game. If I get NT'ed, c4'ed or arty'ed then I blame myself (and quite often the gods of luck and gaming) not anyone who just killed me...

The only noob tactic is the one that doesn't work. Use it but don't rely on it.

Geeze, stop it, yer killin me with your craziness. So, let me ask you, if you're in a tank do you bypass all those kills on infantry and look for other tanks because it's not fair to take out infantry. Do you just pull up to a squad and get out of your tank and yell at them, HEY, come on over here and fight like a man. Pistols at 20 paces. Get real.

And, oh, by-the-way, the 203 round has a kill radius of 5 meters and a wound radius of 15 meters. A tropper could easily carry 10 or 15 of these into combat but in BF2 you only get 5.

Noob tubing is just gay. There is no way to counter anyone with a grenade launcher at a short distance aside from having them killing themselves in the process. If I am killed at a long distance I don't really mind at all, as it requires more skill than I have to kill somebody with the nade launcher at a longer distance. But any noob can pick one up and kill anybody in sight. It requires absolutely no skill. I tried it once when I started playing BF2. I was so "good" with it, I was one of the top scorers in the game. It was so easy. But I soon realized that noob tubing was TOO easy, especially when I started getting killed so easily by it using other kits. EA should make nade launchers have an arming distance so they are used correctly.

Best advice I've seen in this entire thread ... the rest of you should read this.

Everyone complains about noob-tubers -- no one actually posts about how you can counter these.

IRL the M203's grenade needs to fly a minimum distance before it will explode to stop people blowing themselves up with it.

It has to travel somewhere between 15-30m before it will arm. This sounds like a good thing to add to the game. Maybe change that to 10m, just something to stop the point blank shotgunning.
