Why do the Russians have American accents?

So from the first time playing SF, one thing that hit me right away was how the Russian spetznaz sounded.

Yes, they speak russian, but they have this crappy accent. It makes them sound wierd. Especially the commander voice, sounds very wierd.

Why should you take my word for it? Cause I'm a Russian :evil: They should have hired me for the voice acting.

Good point. One would think for accuracy and the goal to make the game the best possible, they would find a native Russian to do the voiceovers. There are plenty of native Russians around here (Denver area), but yes this is not Canada. Maybe they are a rare breed up there.
