The shotguns in general have the same characteristics that remind me of a scene from the Paul Hogan movie, "Lightning Jack". Jack is teaching Ben (Cuba Gooding Jr) about shotguns. He has him fire at a few feet and he obliterates something. Maybe a melon or something, I forget. But he says, "At 10 paces, this will blow a man's head clean off."

Then he backs up a bit and says, "But at 30 paces," (he fires at the barn and just splatters some dust), "It'll just **** him off!"

This is just recalled from memory and not totally accurate but you get the idea. I love the Dao when I have the drop on someone up close or they surprise me up close but the key is up close. Anything beyond that is not nearly as dangerous. So practice with the pistol.

The DAO actually does less damage, and it would be a good time to point out that as an engineer you're not meant to fight (in the mano a mano sense). With that said, take you pick; dao has more shells and can be brutal - jackhammer fires faster and packs a bigger punch. Jackhammers the way to go if you are expecting to fight in close quarters, in my experience you tear em apart (an i got a lot of experience with jackhammer, it was my first unlock). sad thing is though, it blows for any kind of range, where even the pumps take me out.

As has already been stated, the DAo is a better upgrade for the kit.

It hasn't been noted that while the Jackhammer can completely destroy a single target, it's much more vunerable to additional enemies. With the Jackhammer, you tend to "blow your load" too fast kinda like a 15 year old in the backseat with a prom queen (ie, short, messy, and unlikely to happen again).

The DAO is much more controlable. It's like being a veteran porn star that knows how to preform in the art of getting off over and over again. Give 'em just enough, then relax a little 'n give it to 'em again.

Oh, a trick not mentioned here is that the DAO's reload cycle is interuptable. If you need to pull that sucker during it lengthy reload, just switch to something else then switch back. You'll be able to pump off more rounds right away. Call it viagra.

the answer is.....(drumroll please)....................................


the one of the class you play/like more!!! :laugh:

seriously, if you like at, or play it more, you will benefit from having that unlock. if you hate at class, then why get a better gun for it?

same for engineer.

Actually, even if he plays Engineer more, I'd still pass on the Jackhammer in favor of the pump shotguns.

Id get the DAO, then you have a powerful weapon up close, and at a distance you can pick them off with rockets.
