I believe that the unlocks/awards system is ruining the game. however, those things are the fun for many people.
when I buy a shooting game then the fun for me is to shoot more and more guys! not to gather points and new unlocks and awards.

Yeah, I just feel tehy are ruining the community, BF42's was great everyone had fun playing that damn good game, now I just get ****ed playing bf2.

no they should stay in.

the biggest thing that SHOULD be removed is the W/C Ribbon and your win/loss stats....

remove that and you would have a MUCH better game.

uh, aren't there unranked servers out there? If so, check that in your filter and shy away from the ranked servers.....

I prefer they be left in, while at times they have caused issues (stat padding, etc..), the benefits outweigh the negatives.

How is this ONE ribbon the fulcrum of the game? Remove ALL of them, and you'll have a much better game. Remove that one, and you'll just get rid of an excess amount of team switchers trying to get an easy win. Remove the rest, and you'll remove ALL negative effects the awards system brings upon the community.

I like them just because they are there, give you a sense that you have achieved something when you get a ribbon, even if you don't have a clue what it is for, the whole system is pretty pointless but i would rather have it then not.
Anyone who plays for point and not fun is an idiot, the good players, play for fun and get alot of points anyway.

Unlocks should be handed out depending on which kit you use..

for example, 600 kills with the assault rifle should give you the G3, stuff like that. I like the unlocks, but the way to get them should be different.

I think the stat tracking system is pretty cool...Keep in mind this is really the first time something like this has been implimented into a online FPS game...in other words there is plenty o bugs to be worked out...However I see more and more games incorporating this in the future...Plus I like to keep track of my own progress, screw everyone else

And its not like the unlocks make you uber...well the F2000 might be a diff. story

I find the F2000 clunky and not vvery accurate. I picked up the SCAR-L it was amazing felt so smooth and whatnot. I still wished there was no unlocks.

Instead of "unlocks" what if you just viewed them as other options? Would it be such a big deal if you just prefer the G-3 over an M-16?

I just think it looks dumb how everyone has a different gun. Might as well give the Us forces the ak's and and other crap. I just don't like them.:hmm:

I dont like the M-16! Even when I was in the Air Force I had my primary weapon switched to a shotgun. Now when I play BF2 I dont usually carry the M-16 very long, on the rare occaisions Im forced to be a marine, I like to pick up an AK. A lot of people think, when you play assult kit, that if you have an AK you are Mec, on Mec maps of course. Which can lead to some interesting game play.

Back on topic. I think the best way to encourage Team play is to make the points that the winning Team has at the end of the game mean something. A good example would be like I score 20 points in the game and my team wins the game by 100 points so I get 120 points added to my global score and the comander had 25 times 2, for the win, or 50 points and 150 added to his global score. As it stands the final game score really doesnt mean anything, especially if you are a stat whore. Also I seem to have noticed lately a lot of people hideing and not helping team mates. I realy dont think the unlocks have anything to do with this because they are available to everyone. I have found that if you can find a good server and try to play on it regularly you will come across a squad that works together well. I have found a couple of these and the regular members usually invite the same guys to join, This is one of the keys to a good squad, so we can learn each others style of play and be more effective in game. Finally should there be unlocks? Does it really matter one way or the other? I dont think so....Red
