Sorry, but I'm fed up of hearing that myth perpetuated. Commanders receive points based on a team average, so of course if your guys get lots of kills you'll get more points. And by spotting, you help people get those kills. Do you see?

I'm sorry to be so forceful on the issue, it's just that...the truth needs to be known!
Ok, thanks for clearing up, it was just a rumor spreading around, well, that rumor is now proved wrong.

The thread-starter has a point. Some commanders will point out enemies non-stop, even those in UAV range, or that form no threat at all. Because of this I can't even hear my squad mates on VOIP. I like a considerate commander that lets the UAV and scan do its work, and only point out direct threats to flags or players. Spamming voice messages is bad.

Re: Commanders there is no need to point out EVERY enemy you see OVER AND OVER AGAIN

And u forgot another point :

When i'm commander and i find an entire squad infiltrating the base, if i have no UAV i will spot each of them each time they disapear of the map, to help my team to do the work
So yes it will result in a spam, but it's not a spam i want to bore you, but i do it cause i have no other choice.

Another good thing is that if u think there is an enemy somewhere, u can spot it randomly without knowing where he is, it will spot it for sure if your cursor isnt too far from the enemy.

In that way i'm a Human UAV . Of course i try to not spam the team.

Anyway s|k, you are talking the wrong problem, play commander and come again...

I WANT a commander to spam...half of the nitwits out there aren't using the "enemy spotted" function as they should be to begin with.

I only wish more commanders would help spot enemies rather than just using two commands: UAV and Artillery.

If half of you here who posted against what I've said had been on the games I have been on, none of you would disagree with me. I'm talking about when it's just repetitive and not helpful. It's absolutely mindboggling. Whenever it happens I either try to switch teams or if I can't I'll disconnect and find a new server. It doesn't help at all.

The stupid mutiny doesn't work, and when you ask him to stop he starts doing it more. Everytime this has happened it has always been on a losing team.

YOU DO NOT GET ANY POINTS FOR IT.

                  YOU ARE NOT HELPING ANYONE.

YOU ARE RUINING THE GAME'S FUN.

The only points a commader gets are the teams average, times two if you win.

actually if the unit that is being spotted is killed the commander gets points for that

It helps me out during games and I am constantly looking at my radar. It keeps me alert and lets me know where to not turn my flank toward them. I know if a commander points out some infantry trying to sneak over by a flag I will suicide and spawn by that flag and ambush that in-coming enemy.

...words fail me. I thought bolded, capitalised, italitced, underlined text normally stands out...

Anyway, back on topic. Spotting is very useful, in the right situation. When it gets to the point that you stop hearing anything but "enemy infantry spotted" so you can't hear footsteps, gunshots or tank shells (okay, exaggerating here :p) it's bloody annoying!

When I play as commander, I spot strategically. E.g., I see a guy coming up behind one of my guys, I spot him. And so on. I don't spam it but spotting every guy on the map all the time, because it doesn't help and just drives you mad.

If there was a way to spot without the audio file playing each time, then it would be awesome and obviously I would spam it, since it would simply provide good info to the radar without annoying.

I couldnt agree with the author any more....

Spotting = keeping your team alive = winning rounds. Period.

No, I don't spot every single thing to the point of spam, but if drop the UAV at one flag, and see a couple squads working on 2 other flags, I'll scan and spot their area for them...can't tell you how many times they've thanked me for spotting that 1 pesky sniper near them, or the 1 guy in a strange place keeping them from capping the flag.

I will spam it up a bit if the person I'm spotting needs to be noticed by my team. Example: bf2 - karkand, you see a USMC guy swimming his way back to the rear of the map, I'll spot him a couple times hoping someone gets the drift and kills him. In servers with VoIP, I'll let them know, but not all servers run VoIP, so spotting helps in those cases.

As far as not being able to concentrate, perhaps BF2 is too much for you, I hear PONG is still active on-line :P :P :P

How does the author of this post even know for sure if he was spotting for 10 different team mates all over the map?

If not, then it would all sound like spam to him. And, unless all the enemies on the entire map were under a UAV then it would definitely sound like spam.

                            My opinion on this:
You never know for sure if he's spamming or not. Leave the game or deal with it.

I know because it was like this all round:

Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Enemy spotted. Seriously. All round long there was never a single break. He did this on each map.

My take is is you get off your bum and go shoot the enemy the CO would not have to point them out again and a again.

                                Use that weapon son....
