    ok i just did what i said (plus i had to weld all the vertices at tip) but here it is



    so i guess i dont know what u are doin but ???

      Hmm, why don't you put in more edges and vertices into that cone. I think you only put 3 vertex planes (wonder if I used that word right) into that cone to get that shape. That screenshot is showing a hint of distortion like my first screenshot in this thread, although not as much.

      I noticed that when the less vertices and vertex planes I add in to carve the cone, the less distortion I get. However, I need to add in the vertices to carve it to the shape I desire.

      Also, how did you take that screenshot? I've been looking for a icon or button that does that.

        lol just "save as" the render...

        i only did this cone to show you tht its possible - there are 5 rows of vertices which - i am sure if i sat there lining it up - would look fine when rendered.

        of course there is less distortion when u use less vertecies - FYI, start with a 12 sided cone rather than an 18 sided doesnt matter if it looks blocky - thts what smoothing groups are for... u should only need 5 rows tops on the actual cone to get what you want - then smoothing group the cone.

        from looking at your wireframe, you dont need xtra vertices - if anything you need to weld whole rows along the shaft tht are there unneccessarily...
