Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
If you are having problems with a high end computer chances are theres a user keyboard problem. Less you have defective hardware or out of date drivers which if you know much bout computers is fixed quite easily most of the time.
Sometimes I get lag (I have 3GB RAM, 7800 GTX, 2.4GHz HT Intel) but I'm not sure what my framerate is, I don't think it's great. I have all my settings on high and I have AAx4 on. I get lag spikes too. Sometimes I get a lag spike right as I'm in the middle of a fight and it leaves me wondering if it's not a hack or something. Some cheaters on Halo Live use something similiar.
I think its cuz of your P4 2.4 ghz cpu. I have a 2.4 @ 2.9 ghz right now. Recently I accidentally had my cpu accidentally set back at 2.4 ghz and everything was lagging but as soon as I OC back to 2.9, it was smooth again.

I can run everything maxed out at a resolution of 1280x1024 (8ms LCD)
Lowest frame rate online would be a 41. Average is about 55fps
Sound is set to software and medium, eax is on.
Direct3d is set to balanced in the video settings.
When I have everything on high, it takes a much longer time to load the map and it will stutter for about 30 seconds once you are in and picking your weapon, but after that, its smooth.
My preferred settings, is everything on medium and no AA. Loads much faster into the game and I get no stutter during the first 30secs.
Played a server that was running 3 maps for 25 rounds each. After everyround it was silky smooth because everything was loaded when I was running on high.
I have defragged my system with O & O defrag recently, and that improved the amount of time it takes BF2 to get back to the desktop drastically. It use to take like 60 seconds just to start opening up programs and what not. It takes maybe 5 to 10 seconds now.
Before I start BF2, I only have 185MB taken up with background programs.

Your CPU is your bottleneck.
i have an intel celeron d proc OC'ed from 26 to 3ghz and a radeon 9550 256mb/128bit OC'ed to 9600 and 512 ram i play on medium settings with around 40-70fps and no problems at all ill get a spike now and then but nothing huge
The only thing I have done PERIOD is install Special Forces and the 1.12 patch. Gameplay in Special forces is CRAP. Gameplay in regular BF2 is the same as it ever was. I also play CS:S again with all sttings maxed out. The problem is with Special Forces...PERIOD. I am doing nothig wrong and I am not blaming my setup or myself, I am blaming another rushed, buggy release from EA. I am not steaming mad over it. it was halfway expected. I am sure they will come up with a patch at some point that addresses the issue lets just hope that is sooner rather than later. I only posted in here in the hopes that someone from EA is reading these forums and the more reported cases they see will speed the process along. Your coments about this not being "user friendly" makes me laugh. Last time I checked the burden of creating an enjoyable gaming experience was on the shoulders of the game developers. I should not have to change settings in their folders, nor should I have to change settings on my machine to play one game only to have to change them again to play another. You see the specs of my system and they are what they are for a reason...so I don't have to worry about my machine being a bottleneck. For you to insinuate I am doing something wrong and creating this problem ****es me off. If you think you have a solution to this widespread problem on my particular machine then by all means, get your happy ass over here and fix it. Until then, how about we just keep this thread the way you started it, post your specs and the problems you experience.

its just lag spikes after lag spikes for me, as u can see i got a good rig, but i still get around 20-40 fps on all high 4X AA and 16X AF, i get around 60-80 FPS in vanilla BF2
One of the things I want to do even though Special Forces is playing fine for me now is get it matched a little more closely with BF2. Since Special Forces plays around 35fps with 4XAA and BF2 is fine with 6XAA, I'd like to figure out how to close the gap.
Soupy, why are you so angry? I can't help but picture you behind your computer with a helmet on, snarling and drooling all over your keyboard which has been pounded to hell by your balled up fists. If you aren't having problems, that's great, we're glad for you. You have a great rig and you obviously keep it up to date and cleaned regularly. Now go back to enjoying the game and let the rest of us figure out what we need to do to get to where you're at (since you're obviously just here fishing for an argument).
Bignutz, fair enough. The only reason I was trying to get an idea about what you've tried so far is because I just got my Special Forces playable. After uninstalling and reinstalling BF2 and Special forces and all my other mods, I installed Battlefield 2, made a copy of the folder, then installed Special Forces, made a copy of that folder, then did the 1.12 patch. I had nearly 8gb with three stages of gameplay trying to figure out which file changes made the gameplay so bad.
I agree, the coding sucks for us to have to work this hard. But the point is that some people are playing okay, like Soupy, and I finally got it playing good for me at high settings 4XAA.
And the funny part is, when I was trying to overclock my processor more to see if that was the problem, I fed it too little juice, and had a problem going back into the bios. So I reflashed my bios, put all my settings back, but kept my processor at stock. And BF2 played exactly the same, and so did Special Forces. Only after running AVG, Spybot Search & Destroy, and The Cleaner after defragging and resizing my page file, clearing my BF2 cache and defragging again, did it finally work. Overclocking or playing at stock, it works now, and with no noticable difference between the two.
After installing Special Forces I was getting 10fps sometimes even at medium settings. Now I can play at 40fps. What did it for me wont necissarily do it for others but I don't see the point of a thread like this if we don't try to help each other out. But if you just want to talk about your problems etc, you can have the thread.

I play game at 1600x1200 with all settings on high and 4xAA. In vanilla BF2 i have framerates averaging 70-90. Since playing SF, i now have framerates averaging 35-50. Although the FR has reduced in SF i am still able to play the game ok. Although, some of my friends are struggling to play SF. BigNutz you are not alone with your problem.
To enjoy bf2. one must have 3 or 4 gigs of ram. a x1800xt 512mb. and a amd x2 4600+ if you love this game as much as i do. save your money and build what you really need.

Well I haven't played SF. I was just saying that once the map is loaded you shouldn't get any stutterting, especially after playing one round of the same map. Once you go to a new map, it will probably stutter during the first 30 seconds if you are running everything on high on BF2 core.
SF should be the same, but obviously its not. It probably needs to be tweaked a little more to run on everyone's system smoothly.

Now, my rig is far from the best, but I can run both games NO Problem, 70-90 FPS all day long. The only time I see a significant drop in FPS is when I put the Night Vision Goggles on. Seems to me most of your problems stem from the fact that you want to run everything on high, which makes no sense to me, but to each their own. Also, I read somewhere in these forums that the ASUS A8V may be the problem, do a search in these forums and maybe that will help you out.
