    Good rig, still having problems?

This thread is for those of us who have good, if not great, rigs, but are still experiencing problems. After uninstalling, reinstalling, experimenting with patches, rolling back, defragging, moving our page files, redefragging, scanning for adware, spyware, worms, viruses, and even begging... still... our expensive beautiful computers still won't show us mercy. Tips, tricks, experiments that worked/failed. Please post here.

Re: Good rig, still having problems?

I finally got Special Forces to play above 10fps. In fact, I've been playing for a couple hours now near 40fps! It took a couple of days, and basically everything mentioned in the opening to this thread. But today, just a couple of hours ago, I finally got Special Forces to play. But, it took a lot and I'm sure some of you are still trying. Please post your tips and tricks here. For one, overclocking your processor and videocard don't really seem to do much. At least not for me. Whether at 2ghz or 2.5, I still had problems. Only after running every free program to remove worms, viruses, etc did I finally get my computer cleaned enough to play Special Forces as well as Battlefield 2.

The sad part is that until you get to this point (and I'm afraid that deterierization will happen quickly) you are stuck with optimizing your shaders like crazy, since Battlefield 2 and Special Forces share the folder. You can't have high in one and low in the other without refreshing and waiting half an hour. Good luck!

(And now that I can play it, I think it's a GREAT expansion)

No problems EVER!! Not with BF2 or the new expansion. I really do not know why so many people are having problems.

Sometimes I get lag (I have 3GB RAM, 7800 GTX, 2.4GHz HT Intel) but I'm not sure what my framerate is, I don't think it's great. I have all my settings on high and I have AAx4 on. I get lag spikes too. Sometimes I get a lag spike right as I'm in the middle of a fight and it leaves me wondering if it's not a hack or something. Some cheaters on Halo Live use something similiar.

Well Soupy, not sure why you posted if you're not having problems (since that's the nature of the thread), but since you did, what settings are you running at? I am now running at my signature specs though at 4XAA instead of 6.

I'm really curious to hear how people are doing with overclocking out there, but also with whatever settings they have and their experiences. Like I said, I've had problems but have fixed them with optimization.

If you have what you consider to be a good setup, please post that setup here, and tell us what your problems are. I've finally got my game up to 40fps, and am happy to help anyone that thinks they should be there too. We're talking top notch rigs, and top settings.

Well that's just a stupid installment to the forum. 1) It's considered obvious to this thread that you've installed the latest drivers and 2) ATI sucks? That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I didn't read about any nVidia users having ANY problems. We're both in this together. Grow up.

I am running everything on high, I thought I had AA on, but it was off. AA is on now at x4. If I have any problems I let you know.

                    My computer

3.6ghz intel cpu (amds are better balbabla)
                    2gs of Ram ddr2
                    x1800xt graphics card

BF2 SF shutters and shutters. I get very low fps and i cant figure out why

On normal BF2 i can run the game at any settings with any res and it would never drop below 40 on a 64 man server

With SF it drops all the time in random spots. Dont know whats with it

I have to turn off pretty much everything to make the drops not to often

Re: Good rig, still having problems?

                      Here is my rig:

                      AMD Athlon64 3500+ s939 Newcastle(Running 2500Mhz)
                      Thermalright XP90C
                      Asus A8N-SLI Premium
                      2GB G.Skill DDR500 (PC4000)(Running 250Mhz)
                      2 x 7800 GTX SLi
                      X-Fi Extreme Music
                      160 GB Maxtor
                      80 GB WD
                      Antec NeoPower 480
                      Dell 2005FPW

Of course I have everything maxed out. I have installed the latest (81.95) drivers. SF is terrible to play for me especially night maps nd when there are many people in one area. I hope EA comes up with something soon as it is very obvious there is a serious problem here.

tsh2005 Have you degragged and run the various programs to look for viruses etc? I recommend AdAware, The Cleaner, AVG, & Spybot Search & Destroy. I know that it can feel like this isn't your problem, but it put me from 15fps to 40fps. Please, make sure your computer is clean. I promise it will make a differance!

BIGNUTZ (I never thought I'd have to write that) = There definately is a problem. I agree, that having to get so technical with a game is beyond what should be required. But until they issue a patch that addresses the problems, I think we should do our best to address them ourselves. What exactly are you experiencing. What are your fps and besides being maxed out, tell us what you've done to try and get your game play looking good. I'm running a single videocard and getting decent fps now. You've got a sli setup that should kick my ass. What are you doing wrong? Don't put the blame on your setup or the game. Yes, it's not as user friendly as it should be, but we can probably get you to a decent fps.

I reinstalled xp and it did not help

I use AVG and HIT man Pro 2 no adware/spyware etc

I notice that the game shutters more if i have D light and shadows on. Bf2 runs fine with it on high but not BF2 SF

Even with them off my fps will drop from 60fps to 20 fps in certain areas. Even if i look at a blank wall it drops to 20fps for some reason

                            I tryed changing sound options
                            reinstalled xp
                            scanned for adware
Tryed that Tweak up above with the video file

But didnt do anything. Fps drops often to 20s

I have to play the game at 1024 res 2 anti and no D light or shadows.

Even at low settings like that it still drops
