dont waste your money on more than 1 gig, upgrade with another 512stick.. but dont go higher, use the money to buy a better processor.

The 3000+ Venice is @ ~$130

I just spent 150 bucks on this damn 6200 and ripped out an 80gb from my pc to have it as the main on pc #2. Through deductive reasoning, this pc just got upgraded in video, hard drive, IDE ribbon, fresh install of XP. I guess the only thing left is the RAM and/or PROC but still... it worked before..

There's no way, someone earlier said they were running a 5200, wasnt that you?
That's below the sysreq. It clearly says a 5700 or greater yet it runs...

so why would a 1.5ghz not run right, and again. IT WORKED BEFORE.

So I'm just like wtf... why do I have to dump MORE money into this ****ty game. I just installed 3 other games and they run flawless...

BRB then, I will go freakin install quake4 on that pc and see what happens...

My guess is a combination.

IIRC the 6200 Nvidia only has like 4 pipelines and pretty crappy core/mem clocks.

Even though the card is supported, its a weaker than hell version.


You really do need a gig to run BF2 perfect, if your on XP (i would venture to think 2000 may just run BF2 fairly well on 512mb).

Your processor is a lil old, but shouldnt be the bottleneck yet.

Okay, I just got back from fry's. I bought a new mobo and proc (2800 sempron) and 512 of RAM. We'll see if that fixes the issue.

oh and a flight stick for my primary pc

Should have just tried the ram first.
When trying to troubleshoot a problem or find a bottleneck in your case, change one thing at a time so you know what actually fixed it or makes more of a difference.

Yeah, I'm about to try ram 1st, I just goofed off on bf2 a bit to try this flight stick. I'm gonna try to install ram now and see if it helps.

The whole point of this was simply the fact that this EXACT system ran BF2 no problems, why would I need more ram all of a sudden?

But that's cool... I can rest well at night knowing I have 2 pcs that are pretty damn good now and a kick ass job that pays me well. What does that say about you?

Hey ghost. One thing I do when I cant figure out an issue, and this is kinda interesting... is create a new user under WinXp. Then boot into that new user and try to run the game. If the game works perfect, its a profile issue and something in the old profile became corrupt. Sometimes this is that problem, sometimes it is not, but it has solved problems on the past.

Essentially your loading the most basic defalut user profile so your custom software settings are not loaded and thus you can eliminate it being a software issue for the most part.

One other handy little tweak to give you a bump is to move your swap file to another partition on your HDD. This can and has boosted performance with BF2 on a couple of machines I have worked on for clients.

My first guess would be that there's a slight memory leak in SF, therefore the extra ram he put in solved the problem.
I wouldn't be surprised to see "fixed memory leak" on the list of fixes in the next patch.
Just a guess...
