Battlefield 2 uses up to 70% of my RAM after the textures load. Im using 2GB of PQI DDR400 on my MSI K8N Neo4 SLi motherboard with 7800GT and an AMD Athlon 64 3700+.

Comes to show ya just how much of a system hog this game is.

Btw, I went from a 6800GT to a 7800GT and sold off my old OCZ 1GB kit and went with the PQI 2GB and BF2 has been running flawless ever since. Now SF, thats another story and I won't go into any details about it because everyone knows how ****ty it runs right now.

That is what I was looking for I just forgot the name....

My buddy told me about it but I havent got around to doing it...I'm waiting on getting a couple more u320 SCSIs before i go crazy...Basically I need to do some serious rearranging of my storage and OS drive arrangements....

So that 1.6GB is for just the game....interesting

please remember that those ram amounts are for those extreme resolutions. also, what u320 hdds are you running? 10k or 15?

what resolutions/settings are you running?

SF is that bad? man, that sux... i was contemplating getting it but i felt that ea/dice kind of screwed up a bit with just bf2 in some areas and need to fix some issues with it first. then to ask for $30 just 6mos after the intial release for an add-on when the original game still has issues is kind of ridiculous.

All graphic settings on max in BF2.
1280x1024 75hz
4xAA/8xAF - High Quality under the Forceware profile for BF2.

I average about 37FPS.

SF, my FPS drops down to 24.

Question about page files....

Someone on these boards mentioned that it was possible to move the page file to the begining of the hard disk, reducing seek times for the Virtual memory. I Was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this? I tried google'in it myself, but its a drop of water in the ocean.

Now I have a question, if I was to create a second partition on my hard drive, and name it (E). What if I turned off the virtual memory on the (C) partition, and then set it to 1.5 gb on the (E) partition. Would I see any performance increase? Or what if I divided up the 1.5 gb of virtual memory space between 2 different partitions, although I believe that if I divided it that would hinder performace instead of increasing it.

These are my specs:
3.0 ghz P4
1.0gb PC3200 RAM
ATI Radeon X600
SB Live 24-bit 5.1 surround sound
250gb SATA hard drive.

imo, i dont think you would gain because you are still on the same physical hdd. to be honest and not trying to be a d!ck, you shouldn't be hitting the pagefile based on your video card and the settings it can accommodate. are you sure you are even hitting it while gaming?

No ****-ness (lol) at all Bob. Thanks for taking the time to try to answer my question. To be honest I am not sure if I even hit the Page file, I will have to check later on, I'm at work now, I'll check tonight and get back to you.

I would think so.....if not, you can always run 2 BF2 games at the same time with no AA.

Yeah, he's like 16, on his Dad's computer, which he can't post screens of the specs for.:laugh:
